Job Description

Overview:
The Family Advocate reports directly to the Family Advocate Supervisor. This position provides comprehensive, coordinated services to child abuse victims and non-offending family members at the time of the forensic interview and throughout the investigation and prosecution of the criminal case. This position also helps families access community resources, and provides tailored support, crisis intervention, and court accompaniment.
Qualifications:
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred Bachelor's degree in social work or related field. Master's Degree is preferred. One year of experience working with child abuse victims, their families, and a multidisciplinary team related to child abuse. Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and abuse dynamics. Experience with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Experience working in crisis-oriented situations.

Microsoft Word and Excel Job Responsibilities:
Provide non-offending caregivers with comprehensive, coordinated case management and support services. Conduct trauma and suicide screenings for identification and provide a tailored response to child's mental health needs Work directly with families to orient them to the CAC model, answer questions, make referrals for services and appropriate resources. Maintain periodic communication with clients as they await trial, providing consistent support and serving as a reliable point of contact as they navigate the legal system. Participate in an on-call rotation to provide advocacy and child engagement after hours. Provide accompaniment to court appointments and throughout the trial. Attend community meetings and interface with professionals in the field of child abuse and social services as assigned. Document all services provided to clients according to agency requirements. Participate in trainings and continuing education, as needed. Travel between CAC Plano, CAC McKinney, and the Collin County Courthouse as necessary. Operate in an ethically responsible manner.
