Description:
To provide high-quality early intervention services to children from birth to age three with developmental delays and disabilities. The Early Intervention Specialist (EIS) partners with families to support children's learning and participation in everyday routines by providing Specialized Skills Training (SST) and Case Management in collaboration with the ECI team.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, Family Studies, Nursing, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or a related human services field. Meet Texas HHS requirements for Early Intervention Specialist credentialing.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of early childhood development and developmental milestones. Ability to support families in embedding strategies into daily routines to promote child development. Skills in coaching and modeling strategies for caregivers. Ability to collaborate effectively with families and multidisciplinary team members.
Minimum Experience:
One year of experience working with young children and families, preferably in early intervention, early childhood education, or related family-centered services.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide Specialized Skills Training (SST) to promote developmental progress in areas such as thinking, learning, and interacting through play and daily routines. Deliver Case Management services, including helping families access resources, supports, and services within the community. Participate in developmental screenings and evaluations as part of the ECI team. Partner with families and interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and review Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs). Support families in embedding intervention strategies into everyday routines to increase learning opportunities. Maintain accurate and timely records, reports, and documentation in compliance with program, state, and federal guidelines. Serve as a resource for families and staff regarding developmental milestones, learning strategies, and available community supports. Maintain credentialing requirements and participate in professional development to stay current with evidence-based practices. Demonstrate professionalism, ethical practice, and respect for diversity and confidentiality.
Equipment Used:
Daily use of laptop, electronic health records systems, and other technology or equipment necessary for documentation, communication, and service delivery. Developmental toys, adaptive equipment, and teaching tools to support SST and family coaching.

Strong communication and instructional skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to varied environments. Maintain professionalism, empathy, and emotional regulation in diverse situations. Interpret policies, procedures, and data to guide best practices.
Environment/Physical Demands:
Frequent in-region and occasional out-of-region travel. Occasional extended or irregular hours. Work in home and community environments with varying accessibility. Physical activities may include standing, sitting, lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, and reaching. Ability to provide services in family homes, including those that may not be ADA accessible.
