SOCIAL WORKER
(TITLE 5) (INDEF), GS-0185-12, you will: Supports the psychological health team in developing and executing an annual BH program stregy. Determines program priorities, gaps, and means to meet annual goals. Supports the development and annual review of written standard opering procedures governing the BH system of care. Responsible for psychological health promotion, implemention of BH programs, and evaluion activities. Formules stregies to genere interest, acceptance, and participion by organizional partners, community partners, and NG Soldiers and family members. Serves as primary advisor on methods to successfully reduce stigma and market psychological health programs. Develops relionships with military and community groups to enhance prevention efforts and expand available BH resources. Develops an extensive array of BH resources, associions, and community partnerships available to support NG soldiers and families.
Participes in community activities to:
(1) build prevention efforts, (2) learn/influence community problem-solving, and (3) forge community connections th promote psychologically healthy lifestyles within the NG. Collabores with other disciplines and programs concerning family support, resiliency, suicide prevention, sexual assault, and substance abuse. Participes in community outreach and prevention initiives professionally and appropriely. Coordines substantial findings and possible effects of outreach efforts with the Ste Surgeon and key leaders in an effective and timely manner. Coordines and implements prevention and educion programs. Conducts comprehensive needs assessments and Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunity, and Thre (SWOT) analyses th form the basis for program development activities. Develops and provides access to primary prevention services to inform and educe leadership and the NG community large about the dynamics, trements, and behaviors associed with psychological illness. Builds capacity and provides access to secondary preventive support services and psycho-educional skills-development activities. Identifies common skill-building referrals sources including parenting skills, stress management, change management, anger management, financial/money management, support groups for single parents, couples communicion, etc. Conducts clinical screening, evaluion, and consultion services. Conducts pre-mobilizion and post-mobilizion screenings. Completes comprehensive assessments under guidelines of the Diagnostic and Stistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) of the American Psychiric Associion. Prepares written evaluion reports with clinical impressions. Builds efficient processes to manage BH referrals and case management services. Conducts populion-based behavioral health surveillance to examine trends and further develop targeted prevention and mitigion stregies. Responsible to collect populion-level da including distribution of service members by demographics (age, gender/sex, educion level, race/ethnicity), service characteristics (time in service, rank, unit mission), and deployment characteristics (frequency and durion of deployments, comb exposure). Responsible to track frequency of mental health encounters, positive mental health screen on health assessments, interest in mental health assistance, manded reporting situions, and suicide mitigions. Trains providers on psychological health mters, resources, and interventions to increase wellness and psychological readiness. Performs other duties as assigned. This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program. Master's in Social Work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Educion is required. Substitute degrees will not be accepted.
Selective Placement Factor:
Possess a current, unrestricted Ste license to practice clinical social work independently; MSW or
LCSW. LCSW
required for GS12. Once credit is obtained for LCSW, a grade increase to GS12 may be processed. Must have 24 months of experience in clinical social work assignments. For ANG candides, completion of the Air Force Social Work Internship Program may be substituted for 12 months of the specialized experience requirement. The incumbent of this position description must have, a minimum, a completed Nional Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. This position is designed as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparion for, or in response to, a ste emergency or disaster declarion.
