The Center for Youth and Family Advocacy (CYFA) is a nonprofit organization building the next generation of leaders by creating pathways for young people to succeed in school, work, and life. As Arlington's youth leadership and civic engagement infrastructure, CYFA provides coordinated support that help youth move from opportunity, to growth, to meaningful contribution. Through prevention, diversion, after-school enrichment, workforce readiness, reentry support, and community-based services, CYFA connects young people to positive relationships, practical skills, and real opportunities that strengthen resilience and open doors to long-term success. We partner closely with schools, courts, families, and community organizations to ensure youth have consistent support across the systems that shape their lives.
Position Summary:
The Community Coordinator is responsible for providing direct support to youth and families through case management, resource coordination, family engagement, community outreach, and program implementation. The Community Coordinator manages a caseload of youth and families, connects participants to resources and services, supports goal achievement, facilitates youth development programming, and builds relationships with schools, community organizations, and service providers. The Community Coordinator is also responsible for planning, facilitating, and supporting CYFA's youth development programs, ensuring that participants experience safe, engaging, and meaningful opportunities for learning, leadership, and growth. Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, effective communication, cultural responsiveness, sound judgment, and a commitment to helping youth and families overcome barriers and achieve their goals.

The Community Coordinator is a relationship-builder who believes that meaningful change happens through trust, consistency, and connection. The Coordinator enjoys working directly with young people and families, helping them identify strengths, navigate challenges, and access opportunities. They are equally comfortable facilitating a youth workshop, meeting with a parent, coordinating services with community partners, and supporting participants through difficult situations. The Community Coordinator understands that every interaction is an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and promote positive outcomes. Most importantly, the Community Coordinator is committed to ensuring that youth and families feel supported, connected, and empowered to succeed.
Core Functions:
The Community Coordinator is responsible for supporting youth and families through: Case management and support services Family engagement Resource coordination and referrals Community outreach After-school program implementation Youth development programming School and community partnerships Participant recruitment and retention Documentation and reporting Program support and administration The Community Coordinator owns participant engagement, family communication, case documentation, resource coordination, and day-to-day program implementation. The Community Coordinator is expected to build strong relationships while ensuring youth and families receive timely and effective support.
Core Responsibilities:
Case Management and Family Support The Community Coordinator will manage a caseload of youth and families participating in CYFA programs.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting participant intake and needs assessments Developing individualized support plans Identifying strengths, needs, and goals Coordinating services and referrals Monitoring participant progress Maintaining ongoing communication with youth and families Supporting successful program participation and completion Facilitate Afterschool and Youth Development Programs The Community Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and facilitate after-school and youth development programming.
Responsibilities include:
Leading program activities and workshops Supporting academic enrichment and skill development Facilitating social-emotional learning activities Encouraging youth leadership and engagement Creating safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments Monitoring participant attendance and participation Supporting field trips, special events, and enrichment opportunities Build Relationships with Youth and Families The Community Coordinator will establish trusting relationships with participants and caregivers.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting family outreach and engagement Providing ongoing support and encouragement Communicating program expectations and opportunities Addressing concerns and responding to participant needs Promoting family involvement in CYFA activities Coordinate Community Resources and Partnerships The Community Coordinator will connect youth and families with community-based services and opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
Maintaining knowledge of available community resources Developing relationships with service providers Coordinating referrals and follow-up support Collaborating with schools and community organizations Participating in community meetings and events Support Participant Recruitment and Retention The Community Coordinator will support outreach and engagement efforts that strengthen participation in CYFA programs.

Recruiting participants Conducting outreach activities Maintaining communication with families Tracking attendance and engagement Supporting retention and successful completion Maintain Documentation and Reporting The Community Coordinator will ensure accurate and timely documentation of participant services and program activities.

Maintaining participant files Documenting case notes and service contacts Tracking referrals and outcomes Monitoring attendance and participation Supporting grant and contract reporting requirements Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, human services, criminal justice, public health, or a related field preferred. Two or more years of experience working with youth, families, or community-based programs. Experience facilitating groups, workshops, or youth development activities. Experience providing case management, mentoring, coaching, or support services. Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work independently while managing multiple responsibilities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Commitment to positive youth development, family engagement, and community-centered solutions. Commitment to CYFA's mission, values, and vision. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
Necessary Special Requirements:
All employees working directly with youth clients must complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Certificates and Licenses Required:
A valid driver's license is required; certification in Restorative Practices is strongly preferred. Pay:
$55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
