Job Description
Bilingual Victim Advocate Southside Survivor Response Center, Inc. Overview Description Southside Survivor Response Center, Inc. The Bilingual Victim Advocate is hired, supervised by, and evaluated by the Executive Director. This full-time, 40 hour per week, hourly position exists to provide direct services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and any other crisis' event that may occur in the scope of the agency guidelines. The Bilingual Victim Advocate is to perform outreach to the Latino community. The Bilingual Victim Advocate will provide direct services to persons affected by domestic violence and sexual assault, including court related services, refraining from providing legal advice. The Bilingual Advocate will work closely with the Outreach Staff and Support Services Coordinator to create and facilitate ongoing domestic violence and sexual assault awareness events and support groups. In carrying out assigned position responsibilities, s/he is required to exercise sound judgment, demonstrate initiative, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. The Bilingual Victim Advocate is required to complete an orientation of SSRCenter policies and procedures, in-house volunteer training, and complete 40 hours of continuing education annually.
MAJOR DUTIES
: Provide case management and interpretation services to participants who speak Spanish as a primary language. Provide direct services to persons affected by domestic violence and sexual assault as needed for safety, safety planning, and crisis intervention. Provide necessary information and referrals to assist persons affected by domestic violence and sexual assault and with wrap-around services and follow-up, including housing stability. Provide individual and group counseling to persons affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. Provide accompaniment to court related meetings, including but not limited to, interviews with intake, victim witness, and Commonwealth Attorney, police and investigators, and evidence reviews. Assist persons affected by domestic violence and sexual assault with trial preparation. Provide immigration assistance (guidance) during and after criminal trials. Provide targeted outreach to the Hispanic population throughout the service area. Participate in the Hispanic Coordinating Council, Latino Task Force, and other collaborations. Develop bi-lingual brochures for SSRCenter services. Provide on call emergency coverage for persons affected by domestic or sexual violence, including those needing accompaniment to the hospital (monthly rotating schedule). Work closely with the Outreach staff and Supportive Services Coordinator to promote and facilitate domestic violence and sexual assault awareness events, programs, and activities on a monthly basis. Keep records of all services provided using VA Data, updating in a timely manner. Maintain grant compliance, adhere to grant work plans, and fulfill goals and objectives outlined in grants directly related to this position/program. Assist with grant writing and applications directly related to this position/program. Perform reporting requirements for grants in a timely manner. Actively provide information to the community about SSRCenter services. Participate in on-going education/training to enhance your personal skills as related to the position. Attend and provide assistance with SSRCenter events, including the support of activities and events for other advocates during awareness months. Provide other duties and services, as needed for the successful operation of the agency and its programs. Actively participate in community collaborations with partners and community meetings as required. Actively participate in agency meetings as required, including but not limited to, monthly staff meetings, weekly team meetings, and meetings with the Finance Administrator, Supportive Services Coordinator, Director of Emergency Services, or Case Manager. Work cooperatively with all staff to achieve the mission and vision of SSRCenter.EXPECTED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in social work or equivalent experience required in the human services field. Working knowledge of participant advocacy best practices, case management, and crisis intervention. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills in an agency setting in both English and Spanish. Strong time management and organizational skills. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of cloud computing. Proficiency in MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Suites and Calendar. Desire to work with persons affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and homelessness in a non- judgmental, time-flexible manner that is sensitive to their needs in a constantly changing environment. High level of familiarity with community resources. Experience with grant writing and reporting. A valid driver's license.Tipo de puesto:
