Job Description

Title:
Advocate Come join a feminist organization with a focus on social justice. Circle is a nonprofit organization whose work culture is founded in a balance of teamwork and autonomy. Join Circle's collaborative team providing confidential services and supports to domestic and sexual violence victim/survivors throughout Washington County VT. Circle is currently hiring for an Advocate position to work 20 to 40 hours Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities :
  • Satisfactorily complete required trainings and ongoing professional development opportunities including 20 hours of training to obtain Crisis worker privilege
  • Provide crisis intervention, immediate support, information, referral, shelter assessments, legal information and safety planning via Circle's hotline.
  • Provide direct supports to victim/survivors and their children through in-person meetings
  • Identify community resources and make appropriate referrals for needed services.
  • Contribute to the preparation of all required grant reports and statistical data.
Qualifications :
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to provide trauma informed approaches to working with victim/survivors and their children
  • Understanding of domestic and sexual violence as one form of oppression that is interconnected to racism, classism, heterosexism and ableism
  • Basic understanding of the systems and process that survivors must negotiate
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong community partnerships
