POSITION
WCMHS is seeking a seasonal Behavioral Interventionist (BI) to provide direct supervision and support to children and youth enrolled in a school-based summer program. This role focuses on delivering counseling in social, recreational, and daily living skills, while implementing individualized behavioral programming and crisis plans in both educational and community settings. Activities may include hiking, outdoor sports, and visits to local attractions such as Waterbury Reservoir, Wrightsville Beach, and Funspot in Laconia, NH. The position requires accurate documentation of daily activities and behaviors using electronic medical records, as well as effective communication with all parties involved in the child's care. Staff must provide client transportation in their own insured vehicle and always ensure client safety. A willingness to learn de-escalation and passive restraint techniques is essential, along with the ability to follow agency policies and supervisory directives. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of youth through structured, community-based programming.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Summer BI's education and work experience will include: Qualifications High school completion or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience providing direct instruction and therapeutic services to children with challenging behaviors and/or mental health challenges preferred. Possession of a valid driver's license, excellent driving record and access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle are required as driving is an essential function of the position. Ability to deal effectively with crisis situations. Ability to interact respectfully and effectively with clients, WCMHS staff, and other professionals. Ability to lift, carry, and transfer up to 50 pounds. Ability to continuously traverse at least one mile and light hiking. Ability to physically restrain children and youth who are a danger to self or others in accordance with "Handle with Care" training and requirements.
