Job Description
Title:
Youth and Family Services Coordinator Do you want to help end violence in your community? Circle is currently hiring for a full-time Youth and Family Services Coordinator. This position will join Circle's collaborative team in a well-supported environment, and will provide services and supports to domestic violence victim/survivors throughout Washington County VT. This position is housed at our confidential emergency shelter.Responsibilities:
Implement Children's Programming in the shelter Conduct intakes with children entering the shelter Assess children and family needs based on intake Work with children in shelter to develop positive coping skills; plan and lead educational/therapeutic/recreational activities Help residents enroll their children in local schools Develop and implement writing and activity groups with families Assist residents in accessing community resources related to their children Educate Staff and Volunteers about resources available for children and parents in Washington County Remain current on the availability of children's programs and activities throughout the county; keep staff informed of these programs and act as a resource for residents looking for this informationQualifications:
Ability to provide trauma informed approaches to working with victim/survivors and their children Understanding of domestic violence as one form of oppression that is interconnected to racism, classism, heterosexism and ageism Organization and ability to prioritize projects and crisis situation Basic understanding of the systems and processes which victims/survivors of domestic violence are involved with Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form Ability to develop and maintain strong community partnerships Ability to multitask in an empowering and demanding environment Willingness and ability to be on-call on scheduled weekends and evenings.
