SEATTLE, WA
Please read before applying: You must be have your master's degree, and must have passed the Behavior Analyst Certification Board EXAM in order to apply. Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements seen above. This position is live out, with relocation assistance available for the right fit. About this Unique Opportunity A thoughtful and highly invested family is seeking an exceptional BCBA to support a bright, engaging, and affectionate kindergarten-aged child who is thriving with his current therapist, who is relocating out of Seattle therefore will be exiting the job shortly. This role is ideal for a professional who believes in relationship-based learning, play-centered intervention, and helping children develop meaningful social, emotional, and communication skills. The family (and the child) strongly requires naturalistic developmental approaches and is particularly interested in professionals familiar with the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) or similar child-led methodologies where the training is naturalistic and based on what the children respond to most, and naturally become adept at, as opposed to a rigid curriculum based on strict BCBA models. Essentially, This is not a traditional clinic-based ABA position. The family seeks a collaborative developmental partner who can support the child's growth across home, school, and community settings, customized to his unique needs as he does not have a diagnosis, this care is preventative to build muscle in new areas of exploration. The child does not have any behavioral issues, he is extremely bright and reserved, sweet and kind and has great relationships with his family and caregivers. Focus Areas The successful candidate will help the child continue building: Peer relationships Social-emotional awareness Expressive language Conversational reciprocity Confidence in new situations School participation Flexibility in social environments The child has made significant developmental progress and is thriving. This role focuses on continued growth, refinement of skills, and maximizing opportunities for connection and learning. Schedule Approximately 30-40 hours per week Flexible schedule School-year support during core school hours Additional home and community-based support opportunities The family is willing to customize the role around the right candidate. Responsibilities Direct developmental support Social-emotional coaching Peer interaction facilitation School collaboration and classroom support Parent communication and partnership Play-based intervention Naturalistic language development Goal tracking and progress reporting Collaboration with educators and therapy providers Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is: Has at least 7 years experience and excellent references Playful, energetic, and highly engaging Warm, expressive (with facial expressions that are easy for a child to read,) and socially intelligent and has worked with highly intelligent children previously Comfortable leading activities and setting gentle boundaries Physically active and enjoys outdoor play Long Term Relationship-focused Creative and flexible Collaborative and coachable Interested in long-term involvement with a family Understanding that they should prompt the child in any environment in order to train his muscle for assertiveness and give him permission to explore naturally The child has a tendency to stay to his own routines and must be prompted to explore different areas with a caregiver that is naturally interested in spending time with him.
For example:
If the child sees the gate closed to kitchen, prompting him that he can ask for help is a good approach as he would not naturally express needing help. Building the child's confidence and looking to bond with the child is imperative. The child has no behaviorial issues and is very sweet and kind, has a great relationship with siblings, family and caregivers. The family is seeking someone who can follow the child's interests, build trust first, and create meaningful opportunities for communication, social learning, and confidence-building.
