Purpose Statement:

The Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the development, implementation and operation of a Family-Community Resource Center at assigned location(s). In cooperation with the principals and district leadership, the coordinator will establish and implement a site action plan to alleviate social and economic barriers to student learning. The Coordinator will become a key communicator of resources and support. The Coordinator will develop neighborhood partners to increase access to basic needs (e.g. housing, food, clothing, transportation, health and dental care, employment, etc.) and opportunities for student enrichment and parent engagement activities.

Assistant Superintendent Essential Functions:
Coordinate site operations, including: planning, organizing and delivering resources for basic needs and opportunities for student enrichment and parent engagement. In cooperation with the principals and district leadership, develop a site action plan that will help alleviate social and economic barriers to student learning. Be a key communicator, sharing the vision for community schools. Develop neighborhood partners to increase access to basic needs (e.g. housing, food, clothing, transportation, health and dental care, employment, etc.) and opportunities (e.g. student enrichment in-school and out-of-school, and parent engagement activities). Encourage enrichment and engagement activities that promote equity. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Connect with families and share community resources. Attend community meetings and share information. Forge and maintain partnerships between the school district, building, community, and local businesses to enhance community and volunteer involvement in school activities. Participate in Parent Advisory Groups in each school. Enlist and coordinate student interns and volunteers. Participate in school committees and decision-making bodies upon request. Collect data, administer surveys and conduct other evaluation tasks as required. Participate in monthly meetings and trainings scheduled by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and Characteristics:
Knowledge of local, state, and federal resources to support low-income and under-represented populations. Knowledge of effective, evidence-based parent/community involvement strategies. Proven ability to prioritize day-to-day programming and responsive to emergent issues and concerns. Expend and monitor resources in accordance with policies and procedures. Willingness to contribute ideas and resources as part of a dynamic team. Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and visual materials). Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with school personnel, partners, parents, and students. Ability to compose professional correspondence. Ability to attend local meetings and share information as a representative of the school and district as assigned.
Other Requirements:
Access to a vehicle to travel between work sites and to carry out the outreach activities. Valid driver's license, proof of liability insurance. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or 1/3 your body weight using hand truck and other carts. Ability to reach and hang materials and equipment for presentations and educational displays. Ability to load and unload supplies and materials from a vehicle. Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in social or human services, education, human development, or related field preferred. Two (2) years of experience working in an education or social service setting. Experience working with economically, culturally, and linguistically diverse populations. Experience working with ESL/Bilingual students. Experience working with ESL/Bilingual parents. Bilingual fluency in the Spanish language and cultural competence. Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 50% walking, and 40% standing.
