Job Description
The Home Visitor supports families in fostering the healthy growth and development of their children through weekly home visits, parent-focused education, playgroups, and family engagement activities. This position also assists pregnant women in accessing prenatal and postpartum care through education, support, and referrals. The Home Visitor works closely with families and community partners to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards while promoting school readiness, family well-being, and positive child outcomes. Key Responsibilities Conduct weekly home visits and support parents in promoting child development and school readiness. Complete developmental screenings and maintain accurate child progress records. Implement individualized curriculum activities for children and pregnant participants. Plan and facilitate playgroups, family engagement events, and educational activities. Incorporate health, nutrition, mental health, and safety education into services. Connect families with community resources and support services. Recruit and enroll eligible families into the Head Start program. Collaborate with families, community partners, and program staff to support participant needs. Maintain accurate documentation, attendance records, and required program paperwork. Participate in trainings, staff meetings, and professional development activities. Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and agency policies. High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to obtain a Home Visiting CDA credential. Valid Driver's License Reliable transportation with proof of insurance. Good driving record that meets agency insurance requirements. Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities. Preferred Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Experience working with young children and families. Knowledge of child development, family systems, and community resources. Physical Requirements Ability to travel frequently and drive in all types of weather. Ability to sit on the floor, kneel, crouch, bend, and move throughout home and community environments. Frequently lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Occasionally lift children and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a variety of home environments and conditions. Ability to perform duties requiring regular speaking, hearing, reaching, and handling materials.
