Performs complex supervisory work in the provision of child protective services. Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of employees performing child protective services; performs related supervisory functions. Coordinates the work of the unit with inter- and intra-governmental units, community organizations and advocacy groups. Employees are subject to on-call status during non-business hours. Maybe required to deal with situations which are potentially dangerous to client and worker. This position is for the supervision of ongoing CPS cases. May also assist co-supervisor with screening services. Performs related work as required. Mandatory overtime may be required for this position. Applicants must possess a valid WV driver's license, and reliable transportation. Applicants also must have strong communication skills, both oral and written, and maintain detailed case records and extensive documentation. Overtime hours and frequent travel may be required. Successful completion of a background check is required for employment.

County(ies) of work: Lewis, Upshur Position Number(s): 0511P04290 Supervise and evaluate a team of CPS Workers, providing clinical consultation and direction on complex case decisions. Review and approve safety plans, court summaries, and case assessments to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards. Facilitate unit meetings and case conferences to brainstorm interventions and resolve barriers to permanency. Monitor staff caseloads and performance metrics , ensuring all statutory deadlines for investigations and home visits are met. Liaise with community partners , including judicial officers, law enforcement leaders, and service providers to strengthen the local child welfare network.
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience performing social services, probation and enforcement services, or community support and welfare services for adult and child protection.
Experience Substitution:
Additional education may substitute based on a year-for-year basis or as determined by the Office of Shared Administration Equivalency Chart .
Special Requirements:
Valid driver's license.
Internal Applicants Only:
Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in Child or Adult Protective Services, Centralized Intake, Child Welfare, or Youth Services may substitute for the required experience.

Applicants hired into this classification must obtain licensure as a social worker from the West Virginia Board of Social Work within a timeframe established by the appointing agency. Until licensure is obtained, they may not perform duties that require a licensed social worker under state law or Board regulation.
