JOB TITLE
FSC Visitation Specialist Supervised by:
FSC Program Director Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours per week, M-F, flexible schedule including evenings as needed
Starting Pay Scale:
i. Bachelor's degree and less than 1-year experience: $36,000 ii. Bachelor's degree and more than 1-year experience: $39,000 iii. Master's degree and relevant experience: $42,000 Position specifics: salaried position entitled to all employee benefits (paid vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, health and vision insurance, retirement plan and employment incentives)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Visitation Specialist is responsible for facilitating and supervising safe, structured visitations between children and non-custodial parents or family members. The Visitation Specialist ensures a supportive, neutral, and child-focused environment while documenting interactions and maintaining compliance with court orders and agency policies. The Visitation Specialist may act as a liaison with families, caregivers, and community partners as directed by the FSC Program Director/Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS BA/BS
preferred, preferably in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Experience in human services or social work is required. Experience in child welfare, supervised visitation, domestic violence, or family services is highly preferred. Excellent communication and organization skills are required. The candidate cannot be listed on the child abuse registry and must have no prior history of criminal behavior. The candidate must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and proof of insurance. (A criminal background check and a child abuse registry check will be conducted in accordance with the Volunteers for Children Act Public Law 105-251.)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and monitor visitations between children and family members to ensure safety and compliance with court orders. Establish and maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date case documentation and visitation notes. Maintain neutrality and provide a safe, structured, and supportive visitation environment. Intervene appropriately in situations that may escalate, following agency policies and safety protocols. Coordinate visitation schedules with families, caregivers, and referring agencies. Provide objective observations of interactions and document behaviors and concerns. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and professionals regarding visitation guidelines and expectations. Maintain confidentiality of all client and case information. Participate in case staffing, MDT meetings, and court-related processes when required. Prepare reports and appear in court to provide testimony when subpoenaed. Ensure adherence to all agency policies, procedures, and program guidelines. Assist with agency-wide projects, outreach efforts, and community collaboration when assigned. Maintain statistical data for services provided. Perform other duties as assigned. SKILLS Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to manage stressful or emotionally charged situations in a calm and professional manner. Knowledge of child development and family dynamics. Knowledge of child abuse/neglect, domestic violence, and trauma-informed care practices. Strong observation and documentation skills. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and neutrality in all interactions. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, families, and community partners. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility with scheduling, including evenings or occasional weekends as needed. Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and related programs).
