Job Description

Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to help develop and implement a program to determine the needs of persons charged with a crime in Calcasieu Parish. The LCSW will assess individuals by performing diagnostic evaluations and mental health screenings using medical terminology and HIPPA-compliant documentation practices. The LCSW will work in concert with the person's attorney and will advise the attorney of the individual's diagnosis and recommend treatment best suited to the individual. The LCSW will work with office supervision in developing the program. Applicants will be expected to train, supervise and utilize student interns who are working toward their LCSW designation. Your expertise will help individuals, families, legal counsel and the court system as to the individual's diagnosis and the best plan of treatment for them. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while working within a supportive environment to provide legal and mental/medical assistance to persons in the criminal justice system. This will be a fulltime position.
Requirements are:
  • Valid State licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with certification to practice independently in clinical settings.
  • Proven experience in diagnosing mental health disorders, addiction disorders and co-occurring disorders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others while maintaining professionalism in an office and field environments.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to behavioral health conditions and familiarity with ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis classification.
  • Strong skills in crisis management, case management, patient assessment are required to succeed in this role.
  • Prior experience working with individuals affected by PTSD or substance abuse disorders is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of legal terms and working with legal counsel to find the best treatment for the individual is a plus but not required,
  • A strong desire to help create and implement a model plan from conception to implementation is a must.
