RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic screenings using appropriate clinical tools Provide immediate crisis intervention and develop individualized safety and care plans Coordinate referrals and collaborate with internal teams and community partners for continuity of care Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation, including progress notes and activity logs Participate in on-call coverage, delivering rapid response during behavioral health emergencies.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field required Alaska licensure (LPC, LPA, LMFT, or LCSW) preferred 1-3 years of relevant clinical experience, ideally in crisis or emergency psychiatric settings Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making skills Advanced interpersonal, communication, and crisis intervention abilities Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team Flexibility to work variable shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Physical ability to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, and lift up to 35 pounds ENVIRONMENTThe South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. This role is based in a combined acute and long-term care facility in Homer, Alaska, offering a dynamic healthcare setting that supports both emergency and ongoing patient needs. The position involves a mix of independent clinical work and collaboration with medical staff, first responders, and community partners. Work is primarily performed indoors with moderate physical activity. Exposure to job hazards such as infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, muscle strain, falls, and potential needle stick injuries is expected in this clinical environment.
