Job Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Crisis and Emergency Services Counselor to join our team in Covington County , with future relocation to Brantley, AL in Crenshaw County . This position operates within a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model, providing timely, person-centered crisis intervention services in both an outpatient psychiatric urgent care setting and in the community as part of the Mobile Crisis Team . In this role, you will support individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies through crisis assessment, intervention, stabilization, referral, and linkage to ongoing care.Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, community rehabilitation, or another behavioral health-related field Must successfully complete DMH Crisis Certification Training Strong communication, crisis intervention, de-escalation, and clinical decision-making skills Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing behavioral health and substance use crises Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary crisis response team Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to respond in the community as part of the Mobile Crisis Team Must be available to work flexible shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidaysResponsibilities:
Provide direct crisis intervention services including individual counseling, group support, crisis stabilization, and behavioral health assessments Respond to behavioral health emergencies in the outpatient psychiatric urgent care setting and in the field as part of the Mobile Crisis Team Answer and respond to the 24/7 crisis care helpline , providing crisis support, triage, intervention, and general information as appropriate Conduct crisis intervention, de-escalation, assessment, and resolution services for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use emergencies Provide linkage, referrals, and care coordination to appropriate behavioral health, medical, and community support services Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, emergency responders, hospitals, and community providers to ensure coordinated crisis response and continuity of care Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in compliance with agency standards, regulatory requirements, and CCBHC guidelines Support timely access to crisis services and person-centered care within the CCBHC crisis care continuum Remain flexible in supporting 24/7 crisis response services as neededWork Environment:
Work in both outpatient psychiatric urgent care and community-based crisis response settings Serve individuals experiencing acute behavioral health crises in both facility-based and mobile outreach environments Engage in meaningful work that promotes stabilization, recovery, and timely access to life-saving behavioral health services If you are committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals experiencing behavioral health crises, we encourage you to apply and join our dedicated team.
