Job Description

Compensation:
SALARY COMMENSURATE BASED ON EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE. A
signing bonus in the gross amount of $5,000.00 payable on the first regular payroll schedule, less applicable taxes and withholdings. If employment ends prior to the anniversary date, the Employee shall be required to repay a portion of the signing bonus as outlined:
  • Separation prior to six (6) months: 100% repayment
  • Separation between six (6) months and twelve (12) months: prorated based on time worked

No repayment required Signing Bonus Repayment Process If repayment is required, Capstone Health will be authorized to the extent permitted by applicable law, to deduct any outstanding repayment amount from the final paycheck. If the final paycheck does not cover the full balance, any remaining amount will be due within 30 days of the separation date. Work Schedule and Location Monday-Thursday, 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM (Position structured to not exceed 28 hours per week) Initial onboarding period will require onsite training and completion of the credentialing process. Benefits The School-based Counselor position is classified as part-time and structured to not exceed 28 work hours per week. Employee shall not be entitled to the benefits set forth in Capstone Health's Team Member Handbook. Job Summary Capstone Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School-Based Counselor to support students' mental health and well-being within an educational environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in behavioral health, social work, and mental health counseling, with experience working with children and adolescents. This part-time position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and case management services to students. The role emphasizes collaboration with school staff, families, and community resources to foster a safe and supportive learning atmosphere. Duties Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' mental health needs through diagnostic evaluation and patient assessment techniques. Provide individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy. Implement crisis intervention strategies and risk assessments to address urgent mental health issues, including crisis management and PTSD care. Develop and coordinate case management plans tailored to students with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or other special needs. Collaborate with psychiatrists, medical providers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals, as well as teachers, parents, and school staff to develop behavior management plans and support positive behavioral interventions. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information. Facilitate social work activities focused on child & family counseling, conflict management, and working with individuals with disabilities. Engage in data collection for program evaluation purposes and contribute to ongoing training in school experience topics such as special education and behavioral health. Qualifications Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related Behavioral Health Field required. Current Alabama LPC license or ALC (Associate Licensed Counselor) credential. Knowledge of counseling theories, treatment modalities, and mental health diagnoses. Proven experience working with children in educational or clinical settings, including school experience is highly desirable.
