Outpatient Master's degree ICD-10 Working with children Medical terminology Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to join our team on a contracted basis, working with a major health insurance plan dedicated to delivering exceptional behavioral health services. In this role, you will provide comprehensive mental health counseling, conduct diagnostic evaluations, and develop personalized treatment plans for diverse patient populations. Your expertise will help empower individuals to overcome challenges, improve their well-being, and achieve their personal goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact through direct support, clinical research, and innovative therapy modalities in a dynamic healthcare environment. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including intake interviews and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA). Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to support patients experiencing acute mental health issues or behavioral crises. Provide specialized counseling for populations with unique needs, including children with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, geriatrics, and individuals with PTSD or chronic pain conditions. Maintain HIPAA-compliant medical documentation and detailed records of patient care, ensuring accuracy in medical terminology and adherence to confidentiality standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for case management, medical record review, and coordination of inpatient or outpatient services. Utilize telehealth platforms effectively to extend access to care while maintaining high-quality patient engagement and documentation standards. Skills Proven expertise in psychotherapy techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, grief counseling, addiction counseling, and behavioral therapy. Strong working knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis documentation. Experience working with children, adolescents, individuals with disabilities—including autism—and diverse populations across outpatient and inpatient settings. Proficiency in crisis intervention, crisis management, behavior management strategies, and social work principles. Familiarity with medical terminology related to behavioral health and mental health counseling; experience with mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluation processes. Skilled in patient care activities including intake procedures, patient assessment, case management, and direct support roles. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations governing medical records and confidentiality; experience with medical documentation software is preferred. Ability to adapt therapeutic approaches for special populations such as pediatrics, geriatrics, or those requiring gender issues counseling; experience in hospital or clinic settings is advantageous.
