Probation Clinician I/II - Juvenile Court (0626)

Under supervision, provides individual, family and/or group therapy to youth in Juvenile Court programs including Probation and Detention. The Probation Clinician I/II serves as part of a court team to plan, coordinate and implement treatment and programming to provide optimal behavioral health services to meet the treatment needs of youth experiencing a variety of behavioral health issues including substance abuse.

Probation Clinician II:

$64,645.00

• Works as a member of a team of court staff in transition and detention services or programming in the delivery of comprehensive and integrated court services for the development of pro-social life skills
• Consults with probation officers and other professionals regarding clients behavior health issues
• Conducts initial interviews and provides assessments of clients and their parents and family systems
• Develops individual treatment plans
• May conduct daily therapeutic individual and/or group sessions
• Assists juveniles with a variety of issues including but not limited to the development of pro-social life skills, stress management, problems with self-esteem, career concerns, educational decisions, domestic violence, family dysfunction, parenting, depression, suicide, grief and loss, addiction, and mental illness
• Provides offense specific treatment services for juvenile sexual offenders
• Facilitates conflict resolution
• May handle emergency or crisis situations and works with outside resources to resolve crises and coordinate care
• Communicates and develops positive working relationships with and involves parents/guardians in treatment to support the positive development of their juvenile family member
• Coordinates and conducts family sessions and promotes family involvement
• Prepares court reports and court ordered evaluations in a timely manner
• May appear in court to report client progress
• Maintains treatment records Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: standing and walking; vision acuity (near and far); working with and around others; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation.

Probation Clinician I Master's degree in behavioral health field such as social work, psychology, psychiatry, counseling or closely related field and one of the following from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners

• Licensed Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, Licensed Associate Counselor, Licensed Master Social Worker, or a Licensed Associate Substance Abuse Counselor in the state of Arizona.

Probation Clinician II Master's degree in behavioral health field such as social work, psychology, psychiatry, counseling or closely related field with evidence of state mandated 3,000 supervised psychotherapy hours. Must be a licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor, or clinical Psychologist in the state of Arizona.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or clinical Psychologist in the state of Arizona, training, and experience with specific counseling modalities with high-risk youth and their families; 5 years of experience working as a licensed clinician. This position is exempt from overtime.

Note:

Individuals in exempt classifications as part time employees may be classified as non-exempt per FLSA law regarding minimum weekly salary requirements. This position is safety sensitive.

Considerable knowledge of:

• Principles, methods, and techniques of group and individual counseling
• The role of parent-child dynamics and family systems in the presenting problems of adolescents
• Child and adolescent development theories and applications
• Dynamics of behavioral and emotional problems
• Traits of juveniles with co-occurring disorders, such as substance abuse and related issues
• Crisis intervention techniques
• Basic principles and methods of treatment for delinquent and criminogenic behavior Working knowledge of:
• Juvenile Court proceedings
• Human behavior and various social, economic, and cultural backgrounds
• Secure program procedures and policies
• Record keeping, documentation and report writing
• Group activity planning and leadership Ability to:
• Utilize a variety of assessment and feedback information to plan and deliver appropriate therapeutic interventions to adolescent clients and their families
• Engage and work with parents/families to support best therapeutic outcomes with adolescent clients
• Coordinate the activities of various individuals, agencies, and service providers
• Analyze complex problems and situations and suggest effective and reasonable courses of action
• Maintain current licensure and all required training
• Plan effectively
• Communicate ideas clearly, concisely and effectively
• Research and utilize appropriate Professional Support as needed
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, service providers, health care professionals, and the public
