Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as an Addiction Counselor and make a profound difference in the lives of individuals battling substance use and behavioral health challenges. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based counseling and support to help clients achieve lasting recovery. Your expertise will guide patients through their journey toward mental wellness, utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques and clinical assessments. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate addiction severity, mental health status, and treatment needs using diagnostic tools aligned with ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards. Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and family counseling strategies. Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health management, and relapse prevention. Perform crisis intervention when necessary, managing acute situations with professionalism and sensitivity while ensuring patient safety. Maintain accurate medical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, intake forms, and clinical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, case management efforts, and community-based support services such as home visits or outpatient programs. Engage in ongoing research and data collection to monitor treatment outcomes and improve clinical practices related to behavioral health and addiction medicine. Skills Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities including behavioral therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and crisis management techniques. Proficiency in motivational interviewing to foster patient engagement and promote positive behavioral change. Experience in child & family counseling, social work principles, and home & community care environments. Familiarity with hospital settings, PTSD care protocols, medical terminology, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), and medical records management. Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations and patient assessments accurately while adhering to confidentiality standards under HIPAA. Effective case management skills with a focus on individual and group counseling tailored to diverse populations. Competence in utilizing CPT coding for billing purposes and understanding behavioral health treatment frameworks within a clinical setting.
