Category Schools - Counselor Job Type Contract If you thrive on making a meaningful difference in student lives and have experience delivering Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS), this contract opportunity near Berkeley, CA is a rewarding step in your career. This districtwide, itinerant assignment spans the 2026-2027 school year and focuses on supporting students from early childhood through transition ages across multiple locations.
What's Required:
Current California licensure as LPCC, LMFT, or LCSW; BBS registration as AMFT, APCC, or ASW if accruing hours Master's or doctoral degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, or a closely related field Minimum 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience over at least 104 calendar weeks Successful completion of California Law & Ethics and clinical licensing exams Mandatory Live Scan fingerprint-based background check Demonstrated commitment to supporting youth with a range of socio-emotional and behavioral needs in school settings
What You'll Do:
Deliver ERMHS counseling and therapy to students identified via IEPs, ensuring best practices and compliance with district and state mandates Serve an itinerant caseload across diverse sites, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, educators, and families to support student well-being Conduct assessments, maintain documentation, and contribute to IEP processes and meetings Provide crisis intervention, build rapport and trust with students, and develop data-driven counseling goals for student growth Promote a supportive school climate through professional guidance and consultation
