Job Overview We are launching an residential detoxification substance use disorder treatment program and we are in search of registered and certified AOD counselors. to join our leadership team. Your expertise will help clients achieve recovery goals, improve their overall well-being, and foster resilience within a supportive environment. The AOD Counselors maintain a caseload as assigned by the Program Director, and perform various clinical functions. Core Duties Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments utilizing DSM-5 criteria and medical terminology to evaluate patient needs, including intake interviews and diagnostic evaluations. Deliver individual and group counseling sessions employing evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and applied behavior analysis. Develop personalized treatment plans aligned with clinical documentation standards, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical records management using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Provide crisis intervention and crisis management services for patients experiencing acute mental health or substance use crises, including PTSD care and working with individuals with co-occurring disorders. Facilitate family counseling sessions focused on child & family dynamics, social work principles, and case management strategies to support holistic recovery. Maintain accurate medical documentation, including progress notes, treatment updates, CPT coding for billing purposes, ICD-9/10 coding for diagnoses, and data collection for research purposes. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, conduct diagnostic evaluations, and ensure adherence to clinical standards in behavioral health settings such as hospitals or community clinics. Minimum Qualifications Open availability, with flexibility to support the team. Registered AOD or Certified by State-approved organization (i.e. CCAPP) Minimum 1 year experience with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) specific population. Current CPR/First Aid, renewed every two years. Background check and TB clearance completed within required timeframes (and maintained annually) Preferred Qualifications and Characteristics Associates degree in Social Sciences, such as psychology. 2 years of experience working with the SUD population. Calm, consistent leadership style with strong follow-through Comfortable building workflows, improving systems, and holding teams accountable Organized, detail-oriented, and able to balance multiple priorities EHR knowledge, preferably in KIPU or similar systems Experience with program operations, staff supervision, and regulatory compliance Strong understanding of residential detox program requirements and quality standards Strong written and verbal communication skills and professional presence Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals seeking treatment and recovery support We value a diverse team and are an EEO employer.
