Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a STRTP (Short-Term Residential Treatment Program) Clinician, where you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive mental health and behavioral services to children and adolescents. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young individuals facing complex emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. As a key member of our clinical team, you will provide evidence-based therapy, conduct assessments, and collaborate with families and community partners to promote healing and resilience. Key Responsibilities Provide weekly individual therapy and facilitate family and group therapy as needed. Complete assessments, Needs and Services Plans (NSPs), treatment plans, quarterly reviews, discharge summaries, and clinical documentation within required timelines. Collaborate with social workers, probation officers, schools, behavioral health providers, and the interdisciplinary treatment team. Participate in Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings, case conferences, and clinical supervision. Respond to crises and provide on-call clinical support when assigned. Support life skills programming, psychoeducational groups, and resident engagement activities. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Medi-Cal documentation standards, STRTP regulations, and agency policies. Train and support direct care staff on behavioral health practices and trauma-informed care. Report suspected abuse or neglect as a Mandated Reporter. Perform other clinical duties as assigned. Skills Proven expertise in psychotherapy techniques tailored for children & family counseling, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, PTSD care, addiction counseling. Strong working knowledge of EMR systems, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, medical records management, and clinical documentation standards. Experience in home & community care environments along with hospital settings demonstrating adaptability across diverse clinical contexts. Ability to perform patient assessments using diagnostic tools while adhering to HIPAA and medical confidentiality policies. Skilled in crisis management strategies including crisis intervention and crisis management protocols for behavioral health emergencies. Familiarity with medical terminology related to psychiatric patient care, psychopharmacology, special education needs, ICD coding classifications, and working with individuals with disabilities or autism spectrum disorder. Excellent communication skills for engaging children & families effectively while maintaining professionalism within social work or mental health counseling frameworks. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field. Registered or licensed with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (ASW, AMFT, APCC, LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC). Experience working with youth, foster care, behavioral health, or residential treatment preferred. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, STRTP regulations, Medi-Cal documentation, crisis intervention, and behavioral health best practices. Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, documentation, and collaboration skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and electronic health record systems. Ability to remain calm during crises and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Who You'll Serve Our team serves adolescent girls and young adults (ages 12-21) in a Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) who have experienced significant trauma, abuse, neglect, family disruption, behavioral health challenges, and placement instability. Many of the youth we serve are involved with the child welfare or juvenile justice systems, and some have been affected by or are at risk of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC). Success in this role requires patience, empathy, emotional resilience, and a trauma-informed approach. We are seeking professionals who can see beyond behaviors, build trusting relationships, maintain healthy boundaries, and provide consistent support while helping youth recognize their strengths, develop life skills, and work toward healing and independence. $74,030.30 - $89,154.77 per year
