Part-Time SUD Counselor (CADC I/SUDCC)
Medi-CAL Location:
2020 Hurley Way Office #145B, Sacramento, CA 95825
Schedule:
Part-Time 20-25 hours per week
Compensation:
$26.00 - $28.00 per hour (depending on experience) About Monarch Recovery Centers At Monarch Recovery Centers (MRC), our Outpatient Programs offer practical, comprehensive treatment that addresses the whole individual struggling with alcohol or substance use. We begin from a place of understanding and acceptance — without judgment — and work to identify the root causes of addiction, restore sobriety and confidence, and connect each person with the recovery tools, community support, and resources needed for long-term success. About Our Program We are a growing recovery program serving a diverse community of clients across our sober living homes and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Monarch accepts private insurance plans from major carriers, Medi-Cal, and private pay, and we are proudly contracted with the County of Sacramento's Behavioral Health Bridge Housing (BHBH) program. Betweeen our dedicated sober homes managers and talented IOP staff ( peer support specialists, therapists, counsleors) everyone involved plays a role to bring all of these clients together in one integrated recovery community. All BHBH residents attend IOP at our Hurley Way office, with no-cost transportation provided.
Our expanded IOP schedule offers:
Weekday Track:
Morning and evening sessions
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Weekend Track:
Morning and evening sessions Saturday and Sunday All sessions are led by a
CADC, CADC
II/III, or SUDCC I, with supporting therapists and our Clinical Director. Several team members also serve as Peer Support Specialists, assisting BHBH residents with life-advancing courses and training. Position Overview We are seeking a part-time Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CADC) / Substance Use Disorder Certified Counselor (SUDCC) with Medi-Cal experience (six months or more) and at least two years of experience in the field. The ideal candidate has a strong commitment toalcohol and substance use disorder treatment, above-average proficiency in Motivational Interviewing, and preferred knowledge of SmartCare EHR software. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, welcoming, and instill hope in individuals facing addiction and co-occurring conditions, supporting a dual recovery philosophy. A positive and proactive attitude is essential. This individual will naturally connect with and respect diverse individuals in a culturally sensitive manner, demonstrating mindfulness, high ethical standards, and strong teamwork skills. They will use a therapeutic, recovery-oriented approach that is empathetic, respectful, and motivational, while encouraging client accountability. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Medi-Cal experience (6 months or more) Knowledge of SmartCare EHR administrative system Telehealth experience (preferred) Knowledge of relevant regulatory guidelines, including County of Sacramento BHBH and Medi-Cal documentation requirements Preferred knowledge of 'The Change Company''s curriculum Familiarity with bridge housing populations and supportive services (preferred) Flexible schedule with availability for morning, evening, and/or weekend IOP sessions Demonstrates reliability and punctuality Commitment to ongoing professional development Excellent verbal and written communication skills Professional and well-maintained appearance Dependable team member Strong time management skills Ability to collaborate effectively in both clinical and administrative settings Qualifications Minimum
CADC I / SUDCC
credential with at least (1) one year of clinical experience in the field Proven experience facilitating education and process groups, as well as working with individual clients Mature and professional demeanor with a genuine desire to work with individuals in recovery Demonstrated sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences, including LGBTQIA+, racial, ethnic, socio-economic backgrounds, and disabilities Comprehensive knowledge of substance use disorders, alcoholism, and co-occurring disorders Experience working with Medi-Cal clients and/or bridge housing populations strongly preferred
Counselor Responsibilities and Experience Assessment:
Gathering and interpreting client data to identify strengths, weaknesses, and needs
Screening:
Conducting interviews and assessments for program applicants
Intake:
Completing initial assessments and admission documentation
Orientation:
Explaining the program and treatment process to new clients, including BHBH residents transitioning into
IOP Treatment Planning:
Collaboratively developing individualized treatment plans
Case Management:
Coordinating with clients, BHBH housing staff, and community resources to address identified needs and goals
Referral:
Identifying and connecting clients with necessary community resources
Consultation:
Collaborating with therapists, the Clinical Director, and Peer Support Specialists to ensure comprehensive client care
Record Keeping:
Maintaining accurate, timely, and Medi-Cal compliant client records in
SmartCare EHR Counseling:
Providing individual, family, and group counseling services
Education:
Providing information on substance use, co-occurring disorders, treatment, recovery, and available resources Additional Requirements Ability to maintain thorough and accurate client records that meet all facility, Medi-Cal, and licensing standards Ability to collaborate with the Clinical Program Director on aftercare and discharge planning Ability to work effectively in a team environment and participate in scheduled staff meetings Theoretical understanding of and experience with 12-step recovery/sponsorship, Sacramento community support groups, LGBTQIA-Affirmative approaches, Mindfulness, CBT, ACT, and other evidence-based treatment modalities Reliable transportation Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends and be a self-directed individual capable of seeking assistance when needed Position starts part-time (25 hours/week) with potential to move into full-time professional development and growth We are committed to investing in our counselors' professional growth.
