Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. This position is included in the Teamster Local 856. Mission - We provide the people, place, and path for exceptional youth mental healthcare. Program Summary Edgewood's Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) provides youth and families a safe, structured, child-friendly and supportive place to address mental health needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The CSU was created in conjunction with the San Francisco Department of Public Health to evaluate and triage children and youth (ages 5-17) experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms or a mental health crisis. Position Summary The Counselor is responsible for the provision of direct client services and care coordination for assigned youth and families. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred. Counselor Levels Counselor 1 -Competencies and Tasks Partners with the treatment team members in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of Individualized treatment and care plans Coordination and facilitation skills Case management, mentoring, and coaching skills Develops, maintains, and strengthen partnerships Generates reports both verbally and in writing Maintains physical environment (duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning and organizing the classroom/cottage, reporting safety issues to facilities, doing and sorting laundry, etc.) Seeks support and guidance from senior counselors Adheres to agency protocols (call out protocol, medication protocol, SIR protocol, training plan, etc.) Meets program documentation standard (including increase in standard when taking OT shifts). Counselor 2 - Competencies and Tasks Meeting and exceeding all areas of Cl category Implements program structure Strong problem-solving skills and is solution focused Develops and implements positive programming opportunities for clients Leads, facilitates, and manages small groups Meets program documentation standard (including increase in standard when taking OT shifts) Applied Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to physically hold and/or restrain children, following "Handle with Care" principles and techniques Valid California Driver's License or able to obtain one Ability to communicate verbally, in supervision, meetings, and with members of the team Demonstrated written proficiency Work experience in a residential, school day care or child centered agency with focus on children with special needs preferred Ability to develop, cultivate and adapt to the diverse cultural backgrounds of our clients Ability to work collaboratively in a team approach Thinks independently and can make informed decisions when needed Salary Information The hourly rate range for this position is: $22.69 no differential, $24.96-$29.50 based on 1-3 differentials for experience and language.
