Full Job Description Pay:
$33 per hour Important work with individuals recovering from physical and/or sexual trauma. We are looking for a talented individual to help us make a difference in these survivors' lives! The Trauma Recovery & Awareness (TRA) Programs seeks Counselors to join a dynamic team in providing support to individuals with developmental disabilities such as autism, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy. TRA is a program of Community Integrated Work Program (CIWP). CIWP, since 1996, has been dedicated to providing intensive crisis prevention, emergency response intervention, and follow-up services as support for Regional Center clients in Los Angeles County and also the San Francisco Bay Area. TRA provides direct therapeutic services including individual therapy, group therapy, trauma-informed care, forensic support, and substance abuse therapy.

  • Provide clients with individual therapy
  • Facilitate client therapy groups
  • Assist in creating treatment plans and client assessments
  • Train caregivers on behavioral techniques aimed at preventing, arresting, or stabilizing behavior problems
  • Assess for and address suicide ideation
  • Counsel consumers who are dually diagnosed with mental health conditions and may not be adhering to medication schedules (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder)
  • Counsel consumers who may be polysubstance abusers (e.g., marijuana, methamphetamines, opiates, etc.)
  • Counsel consumers with potentially extensive criminal histories (e.g., parole, violent/sex offenders)
  • Keep written records of interaction regarding consumers in crisis notes
  • Maintain consistent communication with Service
  • Coordinators, providers, and Programs' Directors and Coordinator Education and/or
Experience Requirement Required:
Master's level degree in Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Clinical Psychology. Or Bachelor's level with experience conducting pyschotherapy. Two years experience in working with clients with developmental disabilities. Applicants must have a sound familiarity with therapeutic techniques to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and modalities, counseling in individual and group settings, Applied Behavior Analysis, and crisis management.
