We offer in-person services to those who live in/around Boulder, Colorado, and Boston, Massachusetts. We are currently hiring only for our Boulder location. We also offer virtual coaching services to clients nationwide. We are seeking someone who lives near our location (within a 30-minute drive), as we recognize that long commutes can diminish the enjoyment of employment. Although we serve local universities, coaches primarily spend time on campus with clients who attend CU-Boulder and in our offices. At times, virtual coaching may be used to serve clients who do not live near our location.

Pay:
$48,000-$55,000 per year, with starting pay depending on the degree level (bachelor's or advanced degree) and level of experience (relevant work experience and years) supporting individuals, parents, and families in mental health and academic-related settings.

Preferred Education & Experience:
Prefer MFT; specialization in couples and family MFT's receive supervision from a Collegiate Coaching Services supervisor who is an LMFT and earn hours towards licensure. Prefer M.A. in counseling psychology, community counseling, or similar Direct experience working with teens and/or young adults, parents/families in mental health settings. OR Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, family relationships, or related field with relevant experience; must include a minimum of 2 years post-degree experience working with adolescents and/or young adults, parents/families in a therapeutic setting. Enrolled in an MFT program. Enrolled in an M.A. program that focuses on psychology and counseling, and/or education. Direct experience working with teens and/or young adults, parents/families in mental health settings.
- Experience working with teens and young adults with learning differences is a plus; however, it is not required. We are seeking candidates who understand neurodevelopmental conditions such as Level 1 Autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression.
- Applicants who are a good match for this position are comfortable with and skillful in the areas of organization, planning, preparing, and time management, as well as the willingness to provide evening and weekend hours, although weekend hours are infrequent and not regular.
What To Expect:
In addition to direct client meetings, the position requires time for individual and group supervision, team meetings, client collaboration meetings, and administrative tasks (e.g., taking/writing notes, emailing, commuting, etc.). At times, this may also involve facilitating groups and social activities with our clients.
- While some of our meetings with our teen and young adult clients occur through a video-conferencing platform, most of our work is done in person and with other team members.
We prioritize experiential activities with our clients, including time outdoors, hiking, walking, connecting with the Boulder community, and spending time on local campuses when indicated.
Position Description:
- The mental health counselor/coach will carry a caseload of clients, working one-on-one and in teams, to provide coaching services to teens, young adults, parents, and families.
Coaches will teach and support clients in strengthening executive function, life management, and emotional regulation skills; provide recovery support, if indicated; and support students in navigating higher educational institutions.
- The coach will collaborate with the client, parents, and team members, as well as their supervisor, to help each client reach their goals.
- We specialize in areas such as executive function development, successful independent living, systems/family relationships, recovery from mental health issues, screen overuse issues (e.g., video games, social media, and more), college success, as well as connecting in a healthy way with peers and support systems.
- This role requires that you possess the skills to motivate clients to achieve their highest potential, collaborate with professionals and parents, and communicate effectively with team members associated with the client. It also includes updating parents on their child's progress and supporting them in developing new skills and strategies to enhance their child's development and success.
- The position generally is expected to work, Monday-Friday 9-6 pm, and requires some weekend work. The position requires exceptional preparation, planning, organizational, and collaboration skills with team members/supervisors.
- The applicant understands and possesses basic relationship skills, which include being empathetic and having an exceptional ability to listen, validate, and be non-judgmental.
- An ability to interact with parents with a confident, collaborative, and directive approach.
- The applicant is a self-starter and self-motivated.

Other Details:
- Your work week includes individual supervision, team meetings, group supervision, and administrative tasks.

- Ability to plan and prepare ahead of time for coaching sessions.
- Coaching will take place in person at our offices, in the community, and on the CU Boulder campus.
- Collaborating with parents and providing updates to parents on their child's progress. Demonstrate a strong willingness to engage with parents to provide updates, encouragement, and additional support.
- Maintain current knowledge of policies and resources available at higher educational institutions in the Boulder area.
- Create and maintain a safe, healthy, and professional boundary with each client.
- Engage with colleagues and supervisors to discuss strategies to help support clients.
