Full Job Description SUMMARY:
Westminster Public Schools is seeking a passionate and experienced Behavioral Health Instructor to support and inspire high school students pursuing careers in behavioral and mental health fields. This position is shared between Westminster High School and Hidden Lake Secondary and will provide instruction aligned to Colorado Career & Technical Education (CTE) standards and concurrent enrollment expectations. The ideal candidate will engage students through rigorous, real-world learning experiences focused on behavioral health, psychology, counseling, social work, community health, and related human services careers. Instruction will blend academic theory, applied practice, trauma-informed approaches, and workforce readiness skills to prepare students for postsecondary education and careers in behavioral health professions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Requires a Master's degree in a Behavioral and Applied Health (BAH) related area.
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Colorado teaching license with a Career and Technical Education (CTE) endorsement in Human Services, Counseling and Mental Health Services, Health Science, or related field.
  • Must be qualified to teach concurrent enrollment coursework in partnership with a Colorado institution of higher education.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in behavioral health, counseling, social work, psychology, mental health services, healthcare, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescents or young adults preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to equity, student-centered learning, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Passion for mentoring and preparing diverse learners for college and careers.
  • Experience teaching concurrent enrollment or college-level coursework preferred.
Familiarity with Colorado Career and Technical Education (CTE) frameworks and
ICAP/PWR
initiatives preferred.
  • Experience with trauma-informed practices and restorative approaches preferred.
  • Curriculum development and instructional technology experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English
  • Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and deliver Behavioral Health curriculum aligned with Colorado CTE standards, Postsecondary Workforce Readiness (PWR) expectations, and concurrent enrollment requirements.
Provide instruction in topics such as mental and behavioral health foundations, psychology, counseling techniques, trauma-informed care, crisis response, human development, ethics, communication, and community health systems.
  • Facilitate engaging classroom, lab, and experiential learning opportunities that support student career exploration in behavioral health professions.
  • Support students in earning concurrent enrollment credit and preparing for postsecondary pathways in behavioral health and human services.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local behavioral health agencies, colleges, healthcare organizations, and community partners to support work-based learning opportunities, guest speakers, internships, and job shadowing experiences. Supervise and evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and credential attainment.
  • Foster a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, inclusive, and safe learning environment that supports student well-being and engagement.
  • Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and district staff to support student success and pathway development.
  • Participate in professional development and remain current with trends in behavioral health, education, and workforce needs. Support recruitment and promotion of behavioral health pathways across the district.
  • Fulfills contractual and professional responsibilities.
