Responsibilities Provide peer-led support, mentorship, and encouragement to individuals facing mental health or addiction challenges. Assist clients in developing coping strategies, crisis management plans, and recovery goals through motivational interviewing techniques. Conduct crisis intervention when urgent needs arise, ensuring safety and stabilization for clients in distress. Collaborate with clinical teams to share insights from your lived experience that enhance treatment planning and engagement. Maintain accurate documentation of interactions using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while respecting client confidentiality. Offer guidance on navigating social services, community resources, and support networks to promote independence. Participate in ongoing training on behavioral health topics, crisis management protocols, and peer support best practices. Skills Strong understanding of crisis intervention and crisis management techniques. Deep knowledge of behavioral health principles and mental health counseling approaches. Proven mentoring skills with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly. Experience with addiction counseling and recovery support strategies. Familiarity with social work practices and community resource navigation. Proficiency in motivational interviewing to facilitate client engagement and goal setting. Ability to operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently while maintaining data accuracy and confidentiality. Assist individuals in identifying and utilizing available community resources, including mental health services, substance use treatment, housing, and employment programs. Maintain accurate records of peer support interactions and services provided. Provide information on coping strategies, wellness tools, and self-care practices. Help individuals navigate complex systems, such as healthcare, criminal justice, and social services. Work collaboratively with other support services, healthcare providers, and community organizations to enhance service accessibility. Adhere to ethical guidelines, confidentiality policies, and organizational protocols. Participate in supervision, training, and professional development opportunities. Conduct outreach and engagement activities to connect with individuals who may benefit from peer support. Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals in recovery. Lead peer support groups, wellness workshops, and recovery-oriented activities. Educate individuals, families, and communities on topics related to mental health, substance use recovery, and stigma reduction. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor, which are consistent with the position and in compliance with agency policies and procedures. Qualifications Peer Support Certification recognized by the state of Georgia Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and external agencies Knowledge of community resources and support services Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and ethical standards Commitment to promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion Previous experience in addiction treatment setting or with treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders preferred
