Under the direction of the Forensic Diversion Manager-State Office Forensic Services, and working in close partnership with DBHDD Regional Field Offices and Sherriff's Departments for areas covered, the Forensic Transition Coordinator focuses on competency restoration of individuals who have been deemed incompetent to stand trial and referring these individuals to community resources for placement as is appropriate.Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide case management and conduct educational sessions focused on competency restoration for defendants who have been adjudicated as incompetent to stand trial by a State or Superior Court. Regularly inform the Forensic Transition Manager regarding status of competency restoration for defendants. Collaborate with the Forensic Diversion Manager in obtaining court orders for community-based competency restoration services for defendants who no longer require hospital-level competency restoration. Collaborate with the Forensic Diversion Manager to identify defendants who are pending pre-trial competency evaluations or who have inpatient competency restoration orders, who may be appropriate for diversion to community resources rather than hospitalization. Facilitate referrals to other behavioral health treatment programs as needed. Track outcomes and report findings to Forensic Diversion Manager. Develop and maintain a working relationship with the jail Mental Health Provider at covered sites. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field. Licensure in Social Work or Professional Counseling. Two years of experience working with individuals with mental illness Knowledgeable about Georgia's mental health and criminal justice systems Excellent organization and follow- up skills.

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of experience performing work related to the area of assignment or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Healthcare Prgm Consultant 2 (HCP091) or position equivalent.Note:
