Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Addiction Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive addiction counseling services to individuals and families, guiding them through recovery and behavioral change processes. Your expertise will help clients navigate complex emotional and psychological challenges, fostering resilience and long-term wellness. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives by applying evidence-based practices and compassionate care. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and intake interviews, to determine individual treatment needs. Develop personalized treatment plans utilizing clinical counseling techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy. Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health support, and behavioral management. Implement crisis intervention strategies to support clients experiencing acute distress or relapse episodes, ensuring safety and stabilization. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, including case management, social work, and medical professionals. Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medical records using ICD coding standards (ICD-9/10). Engage in community outreach and home visits when appropriate to support clients in their natural environments and promote ongoing recovery efforts. Experience Proven experience in addiction counseling or behavioral health settings, with a strong background in psychotherapy, crisis management, and patient care. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and clinical documentation standards such as CPT coding. Experience conducting diagnostic evaluations for mental health conditions including PTSD and substance use disorders. Knowledge of research methods related to addiction medicine and behavioral health interventions. Demonstrated ability to utilize various therapeutic modalities including social work principles, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavior management techniques. Prior work experience in hospital or community care environments is highly desirable. Certification or licensure as an addiction counselor or clinical mental health professional is preferred.
