DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides a wide range of counseling and clinical services to students at Student Health Services, including initial consultations, diagnostic and treatment formulation, crisis intervention, and short-term individual and group counseling. 2. Provides outreach and consultation to the campus community and Student Health Services. 3. Advocates in campus and community systems to reduce barriers that impede student success. 4. Develops and deliver psychoeducational programs that support prevention and education for the campus community and students at Student Health Services. 5. Manages treatment needs, makes treatment recommendations, coordinates care, and makes specialized case referrals. 6. Maintains knowledge of on and off-campus resources. 7. Provide mental health screenings for students at Student Health Services. 8. Assists with referrals from Student Health Services to Counseling and Psychological Services. 9. Consults with medical staff at Student Health Services and participates in consultation meetings at Student Health Services. Job Summary Provides a comprehensive array of counseling services to the campus community, including initial consultations, diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, short-term individual counseling, and both psychoeducational and process-focused group counseling. Engages in prevention and educational efforts by designing and delivering psychoeducational programs. Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides direct clinical services to university students 2. Provides crisis intervention and after-hours emergency on-call coverage 3. Provides outreach and consultation to campus community 4. Provides clinical supervision to graduate student trainees 5. Utilizes and maintains the electronic health record Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in counseling, psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy Other Required Qualifications Current, valid, and unrestricted license or associate license per the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists Required Experience Previous internship providing counseling services Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications An advanced degree from an accredited institution in a mental health profession Preferred Experience Three (3) years of related work experience Experience with electronic health record systems Experience working with diverse individuals and groups Experience with mental health issues in institutions of higher education Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Able to provide clinical supervision Successful collaboration with the treatment team and external constituents Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one-time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of professional, national, and state ethical guidelines Knowledge of individual, group and couples counseling skills with young adult population presenting with concerns across the continuum of mental health Familiarity with short-term models of treatment SKILLS Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Electronic Medical Record systems) Strong attention to detail and follow up skills Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette USG Core Values The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 25 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
