Job Description

CRHC is looking for a full time (40 hours/week) Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our Mental Health team. This position's schedule is Monday through Friday, hours may be flexible.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Responsible for Advancing Exceptional Care by prioritizing Safety and Quality in every aspect of patient care. This role is committed to fulfilling essential duties that enhance patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and overall healthcare standards, ensuring all actions align with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Clarinda Regional Health Center (CRHC) . By maintaining the highest level of care, this position supports CRHC's dedication to fostering a safe, compassionate, and high-quality healthcare environment for our patients and community.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience Masters degree in psychology, counseling, social work, family therapy or related field. At least one (1) year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified preferred. WORK SCHEDULE & SHIFT REQUIREMENTS
The facility operates 24/7; however, work schedules may vary based on departmental needs to ensure the highest standard of patient care and operational efficiency. Flexibility will be expected. Position is classified as exempt and not eligible for overtime in accordance with labor laws.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves a combination of physical activities necessary to perform essential job functions effectively. The employee should be able to: Sit, stand, and walk for varying lengths of time throughout the workday. Lift, push, pull, or carry light to moderate loads, with assistance available for heavier items. Use fine motor skills , including grasping, reaching, and handling equipment or materials as needed. Perform routine movements , such as typing, writing, or handling supplies. Bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally for job-related tasks. See and hear well enough to read documents, operate equipment, and communicate effectively. Work in a dynamic environment , adapting to occasional changes in pace or setting. Conduct behavioral health assessments of all new and re-enrolling patients to determine the appropriate level of care for each member Co-manage the treatment of patient psychiatric, psychosocial, physical health-related and behavioral health needs throughout the patient's treatment journey Conduct individual therapy sessions with patients Lead regular group therapy sessions with five to ten patients, focused on specific topics and targeted for specific patient populations Collaborate with Community Recovery Partners to reinforce behavioral health principles and interventions during navigation sessions Coordinate with external behavioral health treatment facilities, assisting with referrals to and from higher levels of care when needed Documents therapy in accordance with policies and procedures regarding medical records; implements and adheres to policies which ensure patient confidentiality. Provides crisis intervention in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment. Collaborates with Medical Staff and other health care providers to coordinate management of patient care. Promotes team concept through effective communication regarding patient condition, patient care plan and patient satisfaction with appropriate individuals that are involved in the patient's care. Works effectively with ancillary areas as part of the team approach to patient care. Directs patient support team members effectively and appropriately. Demonstrates initiative and flexibility in the provision of patient care. Collaborates with Social Services and Utilization Management. Completes patient and family education throughout the patient's stay and at discharge. Maintains accountability and responsibility for professional development within physician role by seeking educational opportunities to advance knowledge and skills in order to ensure safe and up to date practice within specialty area. Formulates short and long term goals based on self-assessment of strengths and areas for improvement. Engages in professional activities such as attending professional educational conferences, writing articles for publication, participating in professional organizations and/or participating in research process. Maintains up to date knowledge of reimbursement issues as it applies to physicians. Utilizes allotted CME budget appropriately. Complies with the state and federal regulatory requirements related to the performance of CRHC operations and requirements of the CRHC Compliance Program.

Considers the impact of regulations such as Critical Access Hospital requirements, along with Federal and State of Iowa regulations and discusses concerns appropriately to ensure compliance. Adheres to rules and standards as outlined in the CRHC Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations. Presents self in a professional manner both on duty and off. Regularly attends and participates in Medical Staff meetings Always maintains a professional appearance and manner. Interacts professionally with all other medical staff members, employees, vendors and the public at all times. Maintains appropriate volume of productivity. Is aware of financial impact of decisions for the facility. Quality Program Participation Actively participates in CRHC's Quality Program, committees, performance improvement initiatives, and operational support activities. Demonstrates a commitment to Quality Improvement (QI) practices. Regularly attends Department huddles. Completes tasks as outlined on the Department Huddle Board. Other Responsibilities Performs additional duties as assigned to support the strategic initiatives of CRHC.
