$120,000 + Hiring Incentive (APRN) : $3,000Job Purpose:
The APRN (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Preferred) is responsible for providing psychotherapy, medication evaluations, and medication management to clients presenting with mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders.Essential Job Duties:
- Provide medication assessments, therapeutic services, and/or crisis response to clients, primarily children and adolescents.
- Develop individual service plans based upon assessment data, and provide therapeutic interventions as needed, including ongoing medication management services.
- Ensure paperwork for all prior authorizations of medication and/or testing is completed as required.
- Provide consultation and health education to clients and caregivers and to agency staff.
- Participate in discharge planning with therapist and other agency staff.
- Maintain documentation of services including service plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required information in compliance with agency and third-party compliance standards.
- Receive medical supervision from psychiatric consultants as required.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Other Duties:
- Drive to and from home and community-based appointments.
- Complete all continuing medical education requirements in accordance with licensing regulations.
- Complete training related to psychopharmacology to appropriately treat patients with mental health disorders and demonstrate competence in this arena.
- Complete all documentation within 24 hours of client encounters.
- Facilitate a team atmosphere by working in partnership with other agency staff and by promoting a positive working environment.
- Represent the agency and programs in a positive manner to clients, community organizations and the public, in general.
- Show flexibility with regard to work schedule; evening and weekend work is required.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications Job Requirements:
- APRN Certification with experience in Mental Health (PMHNP Preferred)
- Master's degree with 30 contact hours of pharmacotherapeutic coursework and 500 hours of clinical practice.
- Nebraska AND Iowa licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- DEA certification that allows the prescription of controlled substances as needed.
- Certification by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American Nurses Credentialing Center, or the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
- At least two years Human Services experience with children and families preferred.
- Must be eligible for and maintain credentials to participate in Nebraska Medicaid and private insurance provider panels.
- Strong direct service professional skills, including:
- Understanding and maintenance of clear professional boundaries, with sensitivity to the vulnerabilities of those served,
- Ability to collaborate with coworkers and other service providers,
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to clients, families, co-workers, colleagues, and community stakeholders and,
- Commitment to follow the ethics of the profession and comply with all laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures that govern therapeutic practice.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the varying backgrounds and personal perspectives of others.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups.
- Ability to analyze and make recommendations regarding individual cases and to apply larger, systemic issues.
- Ability to make independent decisions and act accordingly, and, when appropriate, to seek the counsel of a supervisor or consultant.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret forms, documents, evaluations, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to respond to inquiries and possible complaints from clients and other providers.
- General mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, computation of ratios, etc.
Vehicle Requirements:
- Own transportation that meets agency vehicle inspection requirements.
- Valid driver's license with no more than 6 points.
- Proof of insurance that meets agency requirements.
Environment:
- Majority of work is in combination of office and community-based environments. Additional work may be performed in a variety of settings to meet client needs.
- Hours/schedule will vary and include some evening and weekend hours.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended period.
- Ability to collaborate extensively with clients, including children and families.
- Ability to type and perform other office skills.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to collaborate extensively with clients.
- Corrected hearing and vision within normal limits.
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle.
- Ability to respond to on-call needs.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
