Job Description

Empower Youth in Crisis with Trauma-Informed Care at a Unique Therapeutic Farm CommUnity Crisis Services seek a passionate Youth Advocate to join our innovative program at Healing Prairie Farm! This nature-based environment combines fresh air and evidence-based practices to help youth experiencing homelessness, trauma, and mental health challenges find hope and healing. In this impactful role, you will:
Provide Initial Support:
Welcome and connect with youth in crisis, gather key information, and conduct essential screenings (suicide risk, etc.).
De-escalate & Counsel:
Utilize trauma-informed techniques to de-escalate situations, provide crisis counseling, and build trusting relationships.
Connect & Coordinate:
Partner with community resources to arrange appropriate care and build strong support networks.
Document & Report:
Maintain detailed client records, prepare reports, and contribute to program success.
Be Adaptable & Collaborative:
Think on your feet, utilize various counseling styles, and thrive in a team environment. You're a great fit if you have: Bachelor's degree in Human Services + 1 year of experience in mental health counseling, behavioral health intervention, or youth services. Alternatively, any educational background + 2 years of experience in mental health counseling, behavioral health intervention, or youth services. Excellent communication and counseling skills. (Desired) Experience working with youth and trauma-informed practices. (Desired) Familiarity with suicide risk screening, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention/postvention. (Desired) Knowledge of community resources and ability to work with diverse populations. Strong prioritization, independent work style, and clear writing skills. Bilingualism in Spanish, Arabic, French, or Swahili (a major plus!). Professionalism, dedication, teamwork spirit, and a positive attitude.
