Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Youth Peer Support Specialist, where you will play a vital role in empowering young individuals navigating behavioral health challenges. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your lived experience and professional skills to foster hope, resilience, and recovery. You will serve as a positive role model, providing peer-led support that promotes mental wellness and healthy development among youth. Your energetic and compassionate approach will help create a safe, engaging environment where young people feel understood, supported, and motivated to pursue their goals. Responsibilities Build trusting relationships with youth by sharing your lived experience and demonstrating genuine empathy. Provide peer support through active listening, mentoring, and motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive behavioral change. Assist youth in developing coping strategies for managing mental health issues, addiction concerns, or crisis situations. Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management when urgent needs arise, ensuring safety and appropriate follow-up. Collaborate with behavioral health professionals, social workers, and family members to coordinate care plans that meet individual needs. Maintain accurate documentation of interactions using electronic health record (EHR) systems while respecting confidentiality standards. Facilitate group activities or workshops focused on mental health education, life skills, or addiction counseling to promote engagement and learning. Skills Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and mental health counseling techniques. Proven ability to perform crisis intervention and manage emergency situations effectively. Excellent mentoring skills with a passion for supporting youth development. Knowledge of addiction counseling strategies and social work practices tailored for adolescents. Proficiency in motivational interviewing to inspire positive change in young individuals. Experience working with EHR systems for documentation and case management purposes. Pay:
$19.00 - $24.00 per hour
