Job Description

Header Overview Join our dynamic mental health team as an Intake/Adolescent Counselor, where you will play a vital role in guiding young individuals and their families through the initial stages of mental health assessment and treatment planning. Responsibilities Conduct thorough intake assessments for adolescents seeking mental health or addiction services, utilizing diagnostic tools aligned with ICD-10 coding standards. Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical evaluations, incorporating modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA). Engage in crisis intervention and crisis management to ensure immediate safety and stabilization of patients experiencing acute distress or behavioral crises. Collaborate with families and caregivers through child & family counseling sessions to foster supportive environments conducive to healing. Document all patient interactions accurately within HIPAA-compliant medical records, including detailed clinical notes, medical terminology, and progress reports. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for case management, ensuring seamless integration of services across home, school, hospital, and community settings. Participate in group therapy sessions and research initiatives aimed at enhancing treatment outcomes for adolescent populations. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; licensure or certification preferred. Proven experience in child & family counseling, behavioral health, or mental health counseling with adolescents. Strong knowledge of psychotherapeutic techniques such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and behavior management strategies. Familiarity with crisis intervention protocols, hospital procedures, and home & community care environments. Experience working with patients diagnosed with PTSD, addiction issues, or other behavioral health conditions; knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/10) is advantageous. Excellent communication skills to facilitate intake assessments, patient education, and collaboration with families and healthcare teams.
