Health information management Medical terminology Hospital experience Full Job Description Overview Join our dedicated team as a DUI Counselor and make a meaningful impact on individuals navigating the challenges of substance use and impaired driving. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive counseling services, conduct assessments, and develop personalized treatment plans to support clients in their journey toward recovery. Your expertise will help promote safer communities through effective intervention, education, and behavioral health support. This paid position offers an opportunity to apply your clinical skills in a dynamic environment committed to positive change. Duties Conduct thorough intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and behavioral health screenings for clients with DUI or substance-related issues Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy Develop and implement tailored treatment plans that address addiction, mental health concerns, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders Provide crisis intervention and crisis management to ensure client safety during acute episodes or emotional distress Facilitate family and child counseling sessions when appropriate, supporting holistic recovery efforts Maintain accurate medical documentation, medical records, and detailed case notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations Collaborate with medical professionals, social workers, law enforcement, and community resources to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive patient support Experience Proven experience in psychotherapy, addiction counseling, or behavioral health settings with a focus on DUI or substance abuse cases Strong background in motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, and crisis management techniques Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for documentation purposes, and medical records management Knowledge of mental health counseling practices including PTSD care, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavior management strategies Experience working within home & community care environments or hospital settings is highly desirable Ability to perform patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation with attention to detail and cultural sensitivity Excellent communication skills for conducting intake interviews, patient education, and collaborative case management Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA standards in all patient interactions This role is ideal for passionate professionals eager to foster recovery through compassionate counseling while utilizing a broad skill set encompassing social work, addiction medicine, mental health support, and behavioral health strategies.
