Sexual Assault Counselor

Safe Passage has an opening for a full time Sexual Assault Counselor. This position requires a master's degree in human services area. Must have an understanding of sexual assault, domestic violence, trauma, and victim-centered services. Candidate will possess organizational abilities, good listening skills, and the ability to multi-task. Spanish speaking a plus. The Sexual Assault Counselor will provide sexual assault counseling and crisis intervention services to victims of sexual assault and their significant others. This position will work some evening hours.

The Sexual Assault Counselor will:

Provide individual and family counseling to victims and significant others. Facilitate and co-facilitate sexual assault support groups. Participate in on-call by responding to hospitals and police departments. Participate in case consultations regarding clients. Advocate for clients with other agencies in the community (e.g., DCFS, local mental health centers, etc.) Provide community referrals when necessary. Participate in the training of staff, volunteers, and interns. Participate in, prepare, and plan activities for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Required Education and Experience Master's degree in human services field from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work It is a direct service client support position requiring the exercise of discretion and good judgment and is required to work a full-time work week, including evenings.
