COUNSELOR
(MASTERS & LICENSED) McDonough District Hospital •
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
Mb, IL Professional/Technical Full-Time Exempt, Days, Monday-Friday 8:00 to 5:00 Posted 06/10/2026 Req # 2126 Expected pay for this position is $26.06-$44.75. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work required. State licensure (LCPC, LCSW) or ability to test for a state licensure within 2 years, is required. Experience in behavioral health treatment setting preferred.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Must have a broad base of clinical skills. Must have knowledge of interdisciplinary team concept. Must have knowledge of a full range of behavioral health concerns. Must have an understanding of family systems, dual diagnoses and general individual and group counseling skills. The patient population must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.
ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS
Ability tomunicate verbally and in writing with people of diverse backgrounds and education levels. Ability to accept different viewpoints, support new treatment ideas and modalities. Must practice the fundamental professional attitude of "acceptance". Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information. Ability to assess patient needs and to develop individual treatment plans for assigned patients. Ability to facilitate individual, family, couple, and group sessions. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationship withmunity referral sources. Ability to maintain ethical standards as outlined in department policy and procedure manual. Emotionally stable and mature. Capable of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and members of themunity. Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, anda variety of mental health and substance use diagnoses).
