Job Description

As a Counselor at Women's Residential Services , you will have the opportunity to have a direct healing impact on women with substance use disorders. You will facilitate groups that are evidence-based practices for women with co-occurring disorders, provide interventions that are life-changing, and experience firsthand the miraculous changes these women make in their residential stay. WRS has an 80% success rate and not only do we provide the hope these underserved women need, but we also provide the treatment and coordination of care for long-lasting recovery. Our team is comprised of women who have a passion for making a difference, not only in the clients we serve but in the underserved population as a whole. The emotional rewards of touching another person's life in such a way that they reach their true potential is something words cannot describe. We serve to inspire motivate and engage women to reach their full potential. This position prepares and implements treatment plans with clients, provides individual and group counseling and education, and provides substance use education to public, service providers and individuals.
Scheduled Hours:
40 hours per week Sunday to Thursday (11:15PM - 7:15AM ) Conducts crisis intervention/evaluation/referral. Focuses on client empowerment and evidence bases practices in providing treatment, seeking to assist clients to build strengths in addressing treatment needs. Provides direct services to clients including individual and group treatment. Facilitates with clients and collaborates with the treatment team to develop treatment goals and referrals both internally. Provides education and direction to clients, family members and/or significant others. Takes responsibility for training in and documenting clinical chart requirements to meet program and state standards. Organizes and participates in treatment-related clinical conferences and staffings on assigned clients. Provides program coverage including weekends as assigned. Assist in support services such as reviewing clinical charts, admission and discharge checklists, maintaining supplies of forms and documents. Assist in the responsibility of maintaining rotating 24-hour on-site coverage Focuses on client empowerment in providing treatment, seeking to assist clients to build on strengths in addressing treatment needs. Participates in collection of client fees including completing forms for third-part coverage and discussing balances due with clients, as appropriate. Provides community education services as assigned and as self-initiated. Serves food to clients in structured or residential programs. Assists in facilitating transportation of clients. High School diploma or GED and three (3) years' experience Associate's degree in a related field. Must possess a valid driver's license. All professional staff providing clinical services shall: Hold clinical certification as a (CADC) Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor from the Illinois Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA) or Be a licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical professional counselor pursuant to the Professional Counselor and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensing Act; or Be a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches pursuant to the Medical Practice Act of 1987; or Be licensed as a psychologist pursuant to the Clinical Psychology Practice Act [225 ILCS 15]; or Be licensed as a social worker or licensed clinical social worker pursuant to the Clinical Social Work and Social Work Practice Act [225 ILCS 20]. Any new professional staff, who will provide clinical services in a treatment or designated program service and who do not meet the requirements of above when hired shall meet the requirements specified in within (2) two years after the date of employment in the substance use disorder (SUD) field . Time in the SUD field is accumulative, it is not per employment episode. As the largest human service provider in Lake County, we believe that services must be available without barriers.
