Job Description

Mental Health Professional will be responsible for providing direct clinical services to offenders at correctional facilities. These services may include therapeutic interventions, psychological assessment, and crisis interventions. Mental health services will be provided in accordance with all applicable licensure standards as well as state and federal rules and regulations. Corrections experience is preferred. Licenses Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) What you will do: Provide regular mental health services to your designated facility in accordance with the facility schedule and contracted mental health hours. Meet with patients in response to staff and self-referrals (including sick call requests) in a timely manner. Meet with patients for follow-up as indicated. Address sick call requests and evaluate patients by obtaining biopsychosocial history, including current medication, and consulting with other health care providers. Assess for risk, including risk of self-harm, suicide, and homicide, during all patient interactions. Provide suicide prevention interventions and management techniques for high-risk inmates, which may include inmates on watch. Refer to prescribing providers when clinically indicated and coordinate closely with the prescriber to ensure that pertinent information to the patient's clinical condition is available. Provide consultation to security and healthcare staff regarding inmates' behaviors, safety concerns, or other mental health concerns. Document all findings in the patient's health record providing written summaries of history, diagnosis (if applicable) and treatment course, and other documentation requirements as outlined by company and facility policy. Ensure clinical documentation is completed professionally and in a timely manner. Works effectively with all staff including security, healthcare, ancillary, and administrative staff. Ensure that services provided, and documentation are in accordance with scope of practice including relevant ethical and professional standards of care.
