Job Description

Job Description This position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Mental Health and is afull-time, 12-month tenure-track faculty appointment. The program is primarily online with potential residencies. The Director of ClinicalTraining (DCT) provides academic and administrative leadership for the practicum and internship components of the Master of Clinical MentalHealth Counseling (MCMHC) program, a new program within the College of Mental Health. The DCT ensures compliance with CACREP standards,state licensure requirements, and institutional policies related to clinical education. This position collaborates closely with the ProgramDirector to develop and maintain high-quality clinical training partnerships, supervisor training, and assessment processes that supportstudent competency and program excellence.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Earned doctoral degree inCounselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program (required). If the doctorate is from a related field, theindividual must have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for at least one full academic year priorto July 1, 2013 (CACREP grandfathering clause). Current clinical counseling license and supervision credential in good standingwith the relevant state board. A minimum of three years of post-licensure clinical experience, including direct supervision ofcounseling students or pre-licensed counselors. Demonstrated professional counselor identity, including active membership inprofessional organizations and evidence of scholarly or professional contributions (e.g., presentations, publications, or appliedresearch). Demonstrated knowledge of CACREP standards, clinical supervision models, and ethical guidelines for counseling andsupervision. Evidence of effective teaching, advising, and supervision at the graduate level. Experience in developingand maintaining clinical partnerships and training site supervisors in accordance with CACREP requirements. Proficiency withdigital learning platforms and supervision technologies (e.g., Moodle, Microsoft 365, Zoom, Tevera, or comparable systems). Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, students, site supervisors, and community partners. PROGRAMLEADERSHIP AND ACCREDITATION
Provide oversight and coordination for the development, implementation, and ongoingevaluation of the practicum and internship components of the MCMHC program. Serve as the designated Practicum and InternshipCoordinator as required by CACREP. Collaborate with the Program Director to ensure alignment between academic coursework andclinical training requirements. Develop and maintain policies and procedures that ensure compliance with CACREP, SACSCOC, andstate licensure standards. Develop, maintain, and annually review the Clinical Training Handbook to ensure inclusion of requiredcontent, including definitions, agreements, and evaluation procedures. Contribute data and documentation related to clinicaltraining, practicum, and internship components for CACREP accreditation reports, self-studies, and site visits. Represent theclinical training component of the program at professional meetings and within external partnerships related to practicum and internshipactivities.
PRACTICUM AND INTERNSHIP COORDINATION
Develop, evaluate, and maintain clinicalsite partnerships that provide high-quality, supervised learning experiences. Establish and maintain affiliation agreements incollaboration with university administration and legal counsel. Develop and implement procedures for site and supervisor approval,orientation, and ongoing training in accordance with CACREP requirements. Verify that all site supervisors meet programqualification standards, including licensure, professional experience, and supervision training. Engage in regular consultationwith site supervisors to monitor student performance and ensure quality supervision. Implement student evaluation processes forpracticum and internship experiences and site supervisors, using results to inform site selection and program improvement. Ensurecompliance with CACREP standards related to clinical supervision ratios and group size limits across all practicum and internshipsections. Provide coordination and support in addressing student and site issues, including mediation and remediation plans whennecessary. Monitor student and site records, including liability insurance, evaluations, and supervision documentation.
ASSESSMENT AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Oversee the collection and analysis of clinical training data toensure program effectiveness and compliance with accreditation standards. Use program- and course-level data to evaluate studentlearning and inform curriculum and supervision improvements. Coordinate the preparation and submission of annual outcomes reportsand accreditation documentation. Participate in continuous quality improvement processes grounded in evidence-baseddecision-making.
FACULTY AND SUPERVISOR SUPPORT
Recruit, train, and evaluate adjunct facultyand site supervisors involved in practicum and internship instruction. Develop and facilitate training workshops for sitesupervisors on effective supervision practices, ethical standards, and accreditation requirements. Provide mentoring andconsultation to practicum and internship faculty regarding student progress and course delivery. Collaborate with faculty tointegrate clinical and academic learning objectives across the curriculum.
STUDENT SUPPORT AND ADVISING
Assist students in identifying and securing practicum and internship placements that align with their professional goals andlicensure requirements. Conduct orientation sessions and provide ongoing guidance to students regarding field readiness, ethicalconduct, and professional behavior. Address and mediate issues arising between students, site supervisors, and agencies asneeded. Ensure that students receive formative and summative evaluations consistent with program standards and professionalcompetencies.
TEACHING AND SERVICE
Teach courses in the MCMHC curriculum, including thoserelated to practicum, internship, and clinical supervision. Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and university serviceactivities. Contribute to scholarly activities consistent with the university's expectations for teaching, scholarship, andservice.
INTERDISCIPLINARY COLLABORATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Collaborate as appropriateacross College of Mental Health departments and programs to support interdisciplinary education and training. Foster partnershipswith community agencies, clinical organizations, and professional associations to enhance student learning and workforce development. Represent the program in clinical and community partnerships related to practicum and internship training.
