Job Type:
Full-Time, Flexible hours. Evening Shift Located at the Fayette County Jail in Lexington, KY. Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Clinician to provide behavioral health services within a correctional healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, conducting assessments, providing therapeutic interventions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support patient well-being and successful community reintegration. Responsibilities Therapeutic Interventions Provide individual and group counseling services tailored to patients' mental health needs. Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including CBT, DBT, and other clinically appropriate interventions. Assessments & Evaluations Conduct psychosocial assessments and mental health intake evaluations. Identify behavioral health concerns and develop appropriate treatment recommendations. Perform risk assessments and implement interventions to support patient safety. Crisis Intervention Respond to mental health crises and provide de-escalation and stabilization services as needed. Treatment Planning Develop, implement, and maintain individualized treatment plans. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment goals as appropriate. Care Coordination Collaborate with medical, behavioral health, and correctional staff to coordinate care. Support discharge planning and continuity of care for individuals transitioning back into the community. Documentation Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation, treatment records, assessments, and reports in compliance with applicable regulations and facility policies. Team Collaboration Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews. Assist with program development, quality improvement initiatives, and staff training activities. Qualifications Education Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related behavioral health field. Licensure Must be independently licensed or provisionally licensed in the state of practice.
Accepted credentials may include:
LPC LPC Associate
LCSW LMSW LMHC LMHCA
Licensed Psychologist Other equivalent state-recognized mental health licenses Provisionally licensed clinicians must be eligible to practice under required supervision. Certifications Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain upon hire. Preferred Experience Experience in correctional healthcare, behavioral health, community mental health, or related clinical settings preferred but not required. Knowledge of CBT, DBT, crisis intervention, and behavioral health assessment techniques.
