GRAVES COUNTY SCHOOLS CLASSIFICATION PLAN
CLASS TITLE:
Mental Health Professional
BASIC FUNCTION
Promote the mental health and wellness of students by assuming responsibility for providing evidence-based interventions at the individual and group level for schools; promote family engagement; coordinate resources and supports with community partners for the district; provide training for staff; participate in collaborative problem solving and consult with school leaders and teachers. Responsible for maintaining accurate student medical records and billing related to the position.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Establish and lead group counseling and instructional sessions; provide instructional, individual, and group counseling Provide strategies and techniques to reduce mental health barriers to learning Provide assistance to students, parents, and faculty as needed in the area of mental health Provide leadership during a crisis response Complete suicide risk assessments and threat assessments Counsel school personnel to identify students with mental health needs and the proper guidelines for referring students for services Assist groups in planning, developing, and implementing a variety of programs to educate and promote a healthy lifestyle Maintain contact with students who receive out-of-school agency treatment; ensure follow up with students Consult with families regarding preventative therapy resources Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with team members, administrators, and other staff members to maintain current knowledge of programs and effectiveness within the school district Assure compliance with federal, state and district policy, administrative procedures and negotiated agreements as applicable to the assignment Maintain and manage a personal caseload; perform record-keeping duties and maintain accurate documentation of records and billing (medicaid) Analyze situations accurately and implement an effective course of action (i.e., completion of intake and assessment, utilizing diagnostic tools, treatment plan development and discharge, making formal diagnoses if applicable to certification). Maintain current knowledge of program rules, regulations, requirements and restrictions, including management of all medical and/or therapy records/notes in accordance with HIPPA regulations and FERPA. Prepare, deliver, and assist with all training opportunities as appropriate Prioritize, plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines Collaborate with school guidance counselors, FRYSC programs, and community-based service providers Perform related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Community agencies and resources Individual, group and family counseling techniques Oral and written communication skills Record-keeping techniques Medicaid Billing Laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree required in one of the following: counseling, human services, psychology, or related field Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, or Certified Social Worker, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist, or any equivalent license or certification Minimum of one year clinical or school-based counseling experience Must meet the requirements for a criminal record check as specified by Kentucky state law.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in one of the following: psychology, social work, school counseling, or clinical mental health counseling Minimum three years of clinical or school-based counseling experience
