Counselor-in-Training or Registered Addiction Counselor (CIT, CAC, or
RAC - WITH CURRENT CERTIFICATION
through the Louisiana Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority Board is required.
NOTE:
the CIT required for this job is not the same as CIT training / crisis intervention training)

Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour Freedom Recovery, LLC , a leading substance abuse and behavioral health facility, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselor-in-Training (CIT) to support our clinical team. This role offers a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to gain direct experience under the guidance of our experienced Clinical Director , working in both inpatient, 3.1 sober living and outpatient therapeutic environments. The Counselor-in-Training will assist in group and individual therapy sessions, support treatment planning, and contribute to a holistic model of client care. This is an exceptional opportunity for those pursuing a long-term career in addiction counseling or behavioral health.
Key Responsibilities:
Work under the direct supervision of a licensed Clinical Director to support therapeutic programming. Assist licensed counselors during individual and group therapy sessions, including therapeutic and psychoeducational activities. Help facilitate emotional expression, healing, and behavior change through structured interventions. Maintain accurate documentation of client progress per facility and licensing standards. Research evidence-based practices and contribute to the development of new therapeutic strategies. Support clients with compassion, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to coordinate individualized care.
Qualifications & Experience:
Must be a certified Counselor-in-Training (CIT), Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) or Registered Addiction Counselor (RAC) in the state of Louisiana through the Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority Board. Coursework or experience in behavioral therapy and addiction counseling required. Strong interest in learning multiple therapeutic modalities and treatment environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated empathy, patience, and professionalism when working with diverse populations. Applicants with personal or professional experience in substance use recovery are strongly encouraged to apply.
