Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Peer Recovery Support Specialist to empower individuals on their journey to recovery from behavioral health and addiction challenges. In this vital role, you will serve as a relatable guide, providing peer-based support, mentorship, and crisis intervention to foster hope, resilience, and sustained wellness. Your lived experience and empathetic approach will inspire others to navigate their recovery pathways confidently, creating a supportive environment that promotes mental health stability and personal growth. Responsibilities Offer peer-led support and mentorship to individuals experiencing behavioral health or addiction issues, fostering trust and motivation for recovery. Utilize crisis management skills to respond effectively during mental health or substance use crises, ensuring safety and stabilization. Conduct behavioral health assessments and assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans aligned with their goals. Apply motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive behavioral changes and reinforce clients' commitment to recovery. Document interactions, progress notes, and service activities accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems to ensure seamless care coordination. Collaborate with clinical teams, social workers, and community resources to connect clients with appropriate services and supports. Provide education on addiction counseling, mental health strategies, and social skills to promote ongoing wellness and resilience. Experience Lived experience with behavioral health challenges or addiction recovery is highly valued; formal training or certification in peer support is preferred. Demonstrated ability in crisis intervention and crisis management within behavioral health settings. Knowledge of mental health counseling principles, social work practices, and addiction counseling techniques. Experience using EHR systems for documentation and case management purposes. Strong mentoring skills with the ability to motivate others through active listening, empathy, and motivational interviewing. Familiarity with community resources related to behavioral health, substance use treatment, and social services is advantageous.
