Licensed Mental Health Counselor About the
Opportunity Summary:
Northeastern University School of Law seeks a Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join the Domestic Violence Institute (DVI). The successful candidate will be appointed as a Part-Time Mental Health Counselor. The DVI is a part of Northeastern Law School's clinical legal education program and includes the Domestic Violence Clinic (DVC) which operates during the law school's Fall and Spring Semesters. The DVI provides critical legal representation to eligible child and adult survivors of domestic violence in family and immigration matters, engages in advocacy initiatives, and conducts community education and training. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and interested applicants are encouraged to apply early. The successful candidate will ideally start by July 2026.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Masters in Mental Health Counseling Licensed Mental Health Counselor Three years of relevant experience; two or more years of working with survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV), immigrants and/or people experiencing poverty, homelessness and/or mental illness Valid driver's license Fluency in English and proficiency in another language a plus
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Community Education & Outreach Under the supervision of the Director, works directly with the DVI's clients, students and partner organizations in conducting community education and outreach. At the Director's discretion, supervises clinic law students and social work/mental health practicum students; and providing limited classroom instruction. Clinic Projects & Client Support In collaboration with the Director, assists with development of clinic projects and client matters, including consultations; providing referrals; attending meetings and collaborating with internal and external partners; and supporting special projects. Administration Facilitates ongoing DVI administration, including developing and maintaining relevant client files; documenting client matters; and reporting for gift objectives.
