Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Milieu Counselor to join the Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Cambridge Health Alliance's Somerville Campus. This role is an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment team, providing direct patient care and maintaining a safe, structured therapeutic environment for adolescents experiencing psychiatric crises. Schedule:

Rotating 8-hour shifts: 7:00 AM

• 3:30 PM 3:00 PM
• 11:30 PM 11:00 PM

AM Requirements:

Every other weekend required Every other major holiday required No block scheduling No on-call responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, toileting, laundry, and room organization Lead or co-lead therapeutic groups and activities Conduct safety checks and provide one-on-one patient support Monitor and document vital signs, weight, intake, and output Report significant patient changes to the Registered Nurse Support patients' nutritional and hydration needs Maintain a safe and therapeutic inpatient psychiatric environment Accurately complete patient documentation and charting Float between Psychiatric Units 5 West and 5 East, with occasional assignment to other units as needed

Patient Population:

Adolescent psychiatric patients Typical ages: 13-17 years Facility licensed for ages 3-17, with occasional waivers for older patients

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification 1-2 years of Milieu Counselor, Behavioral Health, Human Services, or Psychiatric Care experience Ability to perform ADLs and obtain/document vital signs Successful completion of facility-required physical assessment CPI training (provided during orientation)

Preferred:

Inpatient psychiatric experience Previous travel healthcare experience (first-time travelers welcome) Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, or related field Experience with

Epic EMR Required Submission Documents:

Updated resume demonstrating relevant experience Current AHA BLS certification Driver's license with matching address Skills checklist relevant to specialty Two recent professional references (Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor) Requested time off (RTO) submitted at time of application
