Job Description

Clinician Job Description Northstar Recovery Center Reports to: Clinical Director Oversee client care for identified case load including providing primary and specialty group and individual services, coordination of treatment, referral and collateral contacts, treatment planning, case management and biopsychosocial assessment to ensure the patient enjoys a cohesive treatment experience where all are working together toward the same goal.

            Specific Responsibilities:
            • Provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, as well as education and skills training.
            • Ensures orientation of new clients immediately upon admission.
            • Obtains history and presenting information as delineated in program policy.
            • Collaboratively develops and updates an individualized treatment plan with the individual that includes targeted discharge date and plan.
            • Defines all relevant community sources affecting care and treatment of the consumer (e.g. attorney, family, case manager, etc.) and develops and follows contact plans and conjoint therapy plans.
            • Updates referring sources and family members on patient progress, if/as approved by the individual in services.
            • Utilizes agency endorsed patient-centered therapeutic interventions and rapport-building practices, including motivational interviewing techniques, to non-confrontationally enhance consumer insight regarding diagnostic and usage patterns.
            • Documents treatment episodes, contacts, treatment plans and sessions according to periodicity and content requirements.
            • Maintains appointed continuous caseload of actively engaged individuals.
            • Coordinates comprehensive discharge plan to ensure seamless community reintegration.

            Minimum Qualifications:
            • A Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Addictions, Psychology or related field.
            LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LPC, LADC
            I, preferred.
            • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
            • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
            • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
            • Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues and the ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into the organization.
            • Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.
            • Exhibits excellent customer relation skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, residents, visitors, families and referral sources.
            • Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (Northstar utilizes Google and Kipu).
            • Knowledge of case management for dual diagnosis patients.
            Work Environment:
            This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
            Physical Demands:
            While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
            Job Type:
            Full-time, Primarily Monday-Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Potential for evening, Saturday, and holiday shifts.
